Show up. It matters. 💛

You don’t need to give every week.

You don’t need to give every weekend.

Sometimes, one hour, one event, one act of Seva is enough to make a difference.

This September, during Hunger Action Month, give something just as valuable as a donation—your time.

Come serve alongside us. Meet your community. Be part of something meaningful.

Every moment counts.

1,805 free meals served in one unforgettable day in Hayward. ❤️

On August 8, 5 Sikh Seva had the honor of partnering with Hayward Unified School District for the Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway.

Together, we served 1,805 freshly prepared free meals to students and families across the community.

Seeing so many families come together for support, connection, and care made this a day we will not forget.

To every volunteer, supporter, and partner who helped make this possible, thank you.

This is what community partnership looks like.

This is what your support makes possible.

Hayward, we are here for you.

If you or your family need free meals, please reach out.

We’ve got you.

Introducing The Seva Journal.

Stories and ideas about service, compassion, and stronger communities.

Issue 01 begins with a simple truth.

Kindness does not need an explanation.

Every person who comes to 5 Sikh Seva carries a story we may never fully know.

A senior stretching a fixed income.

A parent trying to make it to payday.

A newcomer rebuilding their life.

A neighbor having a hard week.

They do not need to prove their hardship to receive care.

Our role is not to judge.

Our role is to serve.

Seva means selfless service without expecting anything in return.

Sometimes that looks like a warm meal.

Sometimes it looks like a smile.

Sometimes it is simply asking, “How can I help?”

Welcome to The Seva Journal.

Hunger does not always look like hunger.

One of the most important things we have learned through Seva is this.

You cannot always tell who needs help by looking at them.

Food insecurity can look like a working parent trying to stretch groceries until payday.

It can look like a senior living on a fixed income.

It can look like a family doing fine until reduced hours, an unexpected bill, or an emergency changes everything.

They may have a home.

They may have a car.

They may have a job.

They may smile when you meet them.

And they may still need a little help that week.

At 5 Sikh Seva, we do not ask people to prove their hardship before receiving support.

Our role is not to judge.

Our role is to serve.

A warm meal or a bag of groceries can bring relief, dignity, and hope when life feels heavy.

Food insecurity is not always visible.

But kindness can be.

That is the kind of community we choose to build.

Anyone.

Any week.

No questions asked.

This is Seva.

Real people.

Real service.

Real impact. ❤️

Behind every meal served by 5 Sikh Seva are people who choose to show up for their community.

They give their time.

They prepare meals.

They serve with care.

And together, they help make sure someone feels supported when they need it most.

No spotlight needed.

Just people serving people with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

That is Seva.

That is community.

That is 5 Sikh Seva.

HAYWARD, WE HEAR YOU. ❤️

Two weeks ago, we shared that we were working to bring more 5 Sikh Seva meal service to Hayward.

Now, residents are asking us directly: please come more often.

To every donor, volunteer, supporter, and community leader helping us move forward...thank you.

The need is there. The community is asking. We want to answer.

Help us bring more free meal days to Hayward.

Let’s make it happen together. ❤️

Most people only see the meal.

They don’t see the preparation behind it.

Every meal begins with volunteers who show up early, work together, and prepare with care long before the first family arrives.

They prepare the ingredients.

They organize every detail.

They give their time so others can feel supported, welcomed, and cared for.

Because hope is not something that appears at the last moment.

Hope is prepared before it is needed.

Sometimes, hope begins with something as simple as a warm meal and a smile.

At 5 Sikh Seva, we serve more than food.

We serve dignity, compassion, and the reminder that no one has to face hard times alone.

Every meal shared can bring comfort.

Every grocery bag can bring relief.

Every conversation can remind someone that their community cares.

A smile may seem small.

But for someone going through a difficult season, it can be the first sign of hope.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, and supporter who makes these moments possible.

Together, we are building stronger communities, one act of kindness at a time.
