Meet Sonja Jones/Shin
💜 Survivor. Advocate. Storyteller. Changemaker. 💜

We are honored to welcome Sonja as a featured speaker at SAVE’s 50th Anniversary Gala.

A former NBC and CBS Bay Area news reporter and Today Show producer, Sonja has spent her career telling stories that matter. Her communications work has taken her from San Francisco Fleet Week to NASA and Stanford University.

But one of the most powerful stories Sonja shares is her own.

As a survivor, advocate, and dedicated member of SAVE’s Board of Directors, Sonja is passionate about helping others find their voice and reminding survivors of the strength within their own stories.

Join us on September 12 as Sonja takes the stage to share a deeply personal story of resilience, courage, and hope.

50 years ago, our founding mothers, Mary Lanzone, Marie Danner, Pauline Weaver, Iris Nicholson, and Pam Condy (from left to right), stood up for domestic violence survivors when few resources were available.

They fought tirelessly for the rights of survivors and laid the foundation for what SAVE is today: a community of safety, healing, hope and support.

Thanks to their courage, compassion, and determination, Southern Alameda County has a domestic violence safe house and a lifeline for thousands of survivors. Their legacy continues to inspire us, and their vision has truly changed countless lives.

At our 50th Annual Gala, you can follow in the footsteps of our founding mothers and change lives by supporting SAVE’s critically needed programs, including emergency shelter, crisis prevention, counseling, and housing assistance.

Drum roll please… introducing a very special voice behind the scenes: Jennifer, SAVE’s Executive Director. Jennifer Dow Rowell

Jennifer brings heart, leadership, and a lifelong love of the stage to this production. Her passion for both storytelling and SAVE’s mission makes this performance even more meaningful.

We are so grateful to have her both leading and shining alongside this incredible cast 💜

In her own words:
“From the time I was very young, during my first ballet recital, I knew I loved the stage. I am and will always be a theater kid at heart. As a mom, I love getting to share that same passion with my daughter who is finding her own love of performing. I am fortunate to have performed in The Va**na Monologues in the past and am excited to collaborate with my castmates and bring the show to life to benefit SAVE!”
