The Sycamore Valley Gun Club (SVGC) is responsible for daily operation and management of the Freedom Ranges. Permanent shooting facilities for air gun, pistol, rim fire and high-power rifle are available now to registered members and guests. These existing facilities include a 25 yard pistol range, 100 and (1) 200 yard rifle range(s) and a trap range. Future plans include use-specific ranges dedic

ated to all major shooting disciplines. Membership in the SVGC is available (optionally) to Sycamore Valley Foundation members (with NRA registration) only.

I say, history buffs! 🧐 Let’s take a moment to appreciate a truly smashing bit of 19th-century American engineering: the Maynard Carbine. A frightfully accurate cavalry weapon that absolutely revolutionised the battlefield. Here’s a quick timeline of this mechanical marvel: 🕰️👇

1851: The rather brilliant dentist-turned-inventor, Dr. Edward Maynard, patents his clever breech-loading design.

1858: The First Model enters production, featuring a wonderfully quirky tape primer system—rather like a modern toy cap gun, if you can imagine!

1861–1865: The carbine sees extensive action during the American Civil War. It was prized by cavalrymen on both sides for its absolute reliability and precision.

1863: The Second Model is introduced, simplifying the design by replacing the tape primer with a standard percussion cap system, making it quite the robust piece of kit.

🎓 Today, Part-Time Officer Ishee Pardeshi graduates from Indiana University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice, a B.S. in Psychology, and a minor in East Asian Languages.

After graduation, Ishee will begin her full-time career with IUPD Bloomington, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on the team full-time.
