October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
Don’t be a bully.
If it wasn’t your idea, but you went along with it…
you’re still part of the bullying.
If you said something cruel and regret it, but never apologized…
the hurt is still there.
If you make fun of someone because of their clothes, their body, their interests, or because they’re different…
that’s bullying.
If you laugh while someone else is being humiliated…
you’re participating.
If you type something online you’d never say to someone’s face…
it still hurts.
If you purposely exclude someone just to make them feel unwanted…
that’s bullying, too.
If you spread rumors or gossip knowing they could hurt someone…
your words matter.
Bullying isn’t always pushing someone into a locker.
Sometimes it’s a laugh.
A group chat.
A rumor.
A cruel comment.
An invitation intentionally withheld.
A person everyone decided it was okay to make the joke.
Teach your children to notice the kid standing alone.
Teach them to speak up when everyone else is laughing.
Teach them that being kind will always matter more than being cool.
There are a million ways to make someone feel small.
Choose to be the reason someone feels seen instead.
Don’t be a bully.
