We honored the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We held condensed ceremonies at the following places: C**n Lake Park, Union Cemetary, Zion EV Lutheran Cemetary, Mission Cemetary, Traditions of Frederic nursing home, Zion Lutheran Cemetary, and Frederic Nursing and Rehab.

The morning ended with the main ceremony at Maple Grove Cemetary, with assistance from the Frederic Girl Scouts and the Frederic High School Band. The speaker for this event was our Post Commander David Chell, Bruce Paulson sang the National Anthem, and Pastor Steven Rice assisted Jerry Tischer with prayers.

Flags, Flags, Flags!
One of the primary missions of the American Legion is the foster and support patirotism in our community. The Frederic Post, with help from local businesses is making a push to replace old flags, properly retire them, and give an opportunity to purchase a top quality flag for replacement.

The Old:
On Flag Day, June 14th, the post will be performing a flag retirement ceremony that will be combined with a 250th Birthday Party for America. This will take place in the evening at C**n Lake Park with more details to come.
Damaged, faded, or torn flags can be surrendered to any Legion post member or at the Frederic Libary or Cracked Skull Collaborative (located next to each other for convenience and a wide range of business hours).

The New:
For a long time now, we have provided USA made flags at the Leader office for purchase. You can also speak directly to a legion member for purchase. These are from the same provider as the ones at Larsen Auto and also the soon to be arriving flags that will decorate our main street. Despite being competitively priced, they will be a long lasting flag that many of our past customers will testify to their quality. A 3 x 5 cost is $31 with the price increasing with flag size.

In cooperation with Interfaith Caregivers of Polk County and Frederic American Legion, Legionaires are able to help elder/disabled Veterans with projects around their home. Legionaires Shane, Bruce, Brandon, and Jessica were able to help Mike Plaster and his wife with some outside projects.

Afterwards, Mike shared his model train hobby/collection with the Legionaires.
