After seven wonderful years with MPP, we are celebrate Maria as she begins her well-deserved retirement! ❤️

As a Family Service Advocate, Maria touched the lives of countless children and families, especially through the care and support she provided to our Spanish-speaking families. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication helped families feel supported, connected, and cared for.

We are so grateful for the love, heart, and hard work Maria has poured into MPP and our community over the years. She has truly made a lasting impact, and she will always be a part of the MPP family.

Our MPP staff has been working hard to prepare for a new school year! From trainings and home visits to classroom preparation, our team has been busy getting ready to welcome our students back.

Macon Program for Progress created the Back to School Angels Program to help give every child an equal opportunity to begin the school year with the tools and supplies they need to succeed.

This year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we were able to provide 116 backpacks to students across Macon County:

78 — Elementary Schools
11 — Mountain View Intermediate
12 — Macon Middle School
15 — FHS/MEC/Bartram Academy

And the best part? We were able to fill EVERY request!

We are incredibly grateful to every individual, business, organization, and community partner who supported Back to School Angels this year. Your generosity is making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families in our community as they head back to school.

End of Summer Bash☀️

Students and staff celebrated the last full week of summer with an End of Summer Bash!

🍋 Red's Lemonade Stand visited, and each child enjoyed a fresh lemonade and a tour of the stand.

🧺 Classes had an end-of-summer picnic after spending time at the pool.

🍦Sweet Caroline's Ice Cream Truck stopped by, and every child picked out their favorite ice cream treat, courtesy of Nantahala Bank.

🚒 Franklin Fire Department gave us the perfect grand finale by spraying water on the playground for the children to run through and enjoy!

A special thank you to Red's Lemonade Stand and Nantahala Bank & Trust for partnering with us to help make this week so special. We appreciate your support in creating fun memories for our students and staff!

Our Home-Based students had a fun summer filled with play, learning, and making memories together☀️

They enjoyed imaginative play as doctors, chefs, and hairstylists, cooled off with water play during their summer socialization activities, and wrapped up their summer classes with bubbles and popsicles.

Rainbow week in classrooms 2-7 and 2-9🌈

Students kicked off the week by creating beautiful rainbow coffee filters, watching the colors blend together into vibrant masterpieces. They also explored healthy eating with a fun nutrition activity featuring fruits in every color of the rainbow, learning which colors each fruit represented and the order of the rainbow.

To wrap up the week, they became little scientists and created a "walking rainbow!" Using colored water and paper towels, they watched the colors travel, mix together, and form every color of the rainbow right before their eyes.
