Back to school is just a little over 2 months away. πŸŽ’ We know, summer just started. But for the children in Macon County's foster care system, the start of a new school year is about more than new pencils and fresh notebooks. It's about feeling ready. Feeling seen. Feeling like someone believed in them before the bell ever rang.

Together We Can is already thinking ahead because that's what these kids deserve. Stay connected this summer as we share ways you can help make this school year one to remember for a child in our community. πŸ’› Follow our page so you don't miss a thing.

What was your favorite summer activity as a kid? β˜€οΈ For a lot of us, summer meant freedom. Bike rides, swimming holes, staying out until the streetlights came on, ice cream that melted faster than you could eat it. Every child deserves those memories.

At Together We Can, that's what drives us. Making sure kids in Macon County's foster care system get to just be kids, even when life has been anything but simple.

Share your favorite summer memory below. We'd love to hear it. πŸ’›

Earlier this week we shared a little about National Reunification Month and what foster care looks like at its best. Here's a stat that really puts it into perspective.

In 2022, 47% of children exiting foster care were reunified with their parents or primary caretakers. Nearly half. That means for a lot of families, foster care isn't the end of the story. It's the support system that gives them a chance to write a better one.

June is National Reunification Month. A reminder that foster care, at its best, is a bridge, not a destination. The goal is always stability and permanency for every child. Together We Can is proud to be part of that work right here in our community.

June is a fresh start. 🌿 New families to walk alongside, kids of all ages to cheer for, and moments that remind us why this work matters. We show up for all of them. The little ones, the teenagers, the young adults. Anyone who needs someone in their corner.

If you've been looking for a simple way to do something good this week, this is it. A $10 donation goes further than you think.

Foster Care Awareness Month is behind us, but here in Macon County, the children we serve woke up this morning just as they did last month. Needing stability, support, and someone to show up.

Awareness months matter. They spark conversations, bring in donations, and remind communities that this work exists. But the families and youth Together We Can serve don’t get a month off from their circumstances.

Follow along. Share when something moves you. Give when you can. The work is year-round, and so is the need. Together, we can. πŸ’™

May is almost over, and we're closing out Foster Care Awareness Month with full hearts. πŸ’™

This month reminded us why we do what we do. Every conversation, every share, every person who showed up for a child in need. It matters more than you know.

Foster care awareness doesn't end when the month does. But today we want to say thank you. To our foster families, our volunteers, our community partners, and everyone who has cheered us on: we are so grateful.

Here's to carrying this momentum into June and beyond.

Today we remember. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ We honor the men and women who gave their lives so that others could have a future. That kind of sacrifice, choosing someone else's tomorrow over your own, is something we never take for granted.

To every military family who has known that loss: we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful.

Strong communities take care of their children. Foster care is not just a government program. It is a community response to a community need. When local families step up, children get to stay close to their schools, their friends, and everything familiar to them.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we are so grateful for every Macon County family that has already answered that call. Because of you, children in our community have a safe place to land. πŸ’›
