The sunflowers at Munsell Farms are always a beautiful sight! 🌻

🌻 There’s a 60-acre field of sunflowers waiting just outside Fowlerville — and the timing for 2026 is almost here.

Munsell Farms is a fourth-generation Michigan farm that dates back to 1905. Today, the family operates roughly 1,400 acres and grows an impressive mix of crops and farm products, including hay, straw, corn, oats, rye, bird seed, greenhouse plants, cut flowers, pumpkins and, of course, sunflowers.

But for a few weeks each year, those sunflowers steal the show. 🌻

The farm's 2026 sunflower field is listed at 60 acres, with the field expected to open in late August and reach full bloom in late August or early September. Since weather has the final say with anything growing in a Michigan field, checking for the latest bloom update before making the drive is a smart move.

And here's a detail we really like:

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁.

That's right. You can wander through the 60-acre field, enjoy the scenery and take your photos without paying an admission fee. Visitors are asked to respect the plants and stay mindful of the field, and current visitor information encourages photographers to pay it forward as well.

And don't think of Munsell as just a sunflower stop.

The farm operates year-round with seasonal products, including bedding plants in spring and pumpkins, squash, corn, fall decorations and other farm products later in the year. It's a working Michigan farm first — the sunflower field is simply one spectacular part of what they do.

So if you're already thinking about that late-summer Michigan photo…

📸 Bring the camera.
👟 Stick to the paths.
🚜 Support a fourth-generation family farm.

And maybe don't wait until the flowers are at their absolute peak to start thinking about going — sunflower season can move quickly.

The eastbound I-96 off ramp to Grand River Ave will be closed until September 4th. Traffic will be detoured to continue on eastbound I-96 to Spencer Road, Exit 147, Spencer Road, to westbound I-96, and exit to Grand River Avenue.

TRAFFIC UPDATE: We will have a significant stage change on Monday July 13th.

Beginning Monday, July13th at 9:00 a.m., the eastbound I-96 off ramp to Grand River Ave will be closed for 50 days. Traffic will be detoured to continue on eastbound I-96 to Spencer Road, Exit 147, Spencer Road, to westbound I-96, and exit to Grand River Avenue.
The eastbound I-96 ramp to Grand River Ave is expected to re-open to traffic by September 4th at 5:00 p.m.
