Did You Know? Because radio waves travel at 186,000 miles per second and sound waves at 700 miles per hour, a broadcast voice can be heard sooner 13,000 miles away than it can be heard at the back of the room

Winter Field Day 2026: Success! ❄️📻

What a fantastic weekend! I want to give a massive thank you to everyone who braved the cold and came out for Winter Field Day.

Whether you were operating, helping with antenna setups, or just stopping by to show support, you made the event a highlight of the season.

We made some great contacts, plenty of warm beverages and food, and even better company. It’s always rewarding to see our local amateur radio community come together to test our emergency prep and—of course—play some radio.

Special thanks TJ for securing the great location (Cortland Masonic Lodge) and Jeffrey, Chris, Tim, and Mike for the yummy food!

Can't wait to see the final logs! 73 to all!

Good afternoon everyone,

As I am sure most of you know there is predicted to be a major winter storm approaching our area this weekend. In the best interest of keeping our members safe, we are going to be canceling our planned WFD operations on Sunday.

Currently the forecast is that the storm will begin late Saturday evening. We will plan to arrive at the location for setup around 10am Saturday morning. We will still plan on having the test session at 3pm, and dinner at 5pm. Depending on how the forecast changes we will continue to operate into the evening and tear down and head home before the storm worsens.

Keep your eyes and ears fixed to local weather forecasts. We will update as the situation develops.
