Save the date!! We will be holding our annual Holiday Stroll/Market on December 12th, 10AM-4PM. This festive holiday event is held rain or shine! This is a call to artisans, bakers, crafters, woodworkers and much more! This event is a fundraiser for Epona Safe Haven, we are a 501C3 Nonprofit Equine rescue, located at Journeys End Farm in Scituate, RI We also have space for tack sales etc! It is with great sadness that we create this post, we have had to say goodbye to one of our longtime residents, New Hope. This post is long but worth the read, it’s a chronicle of the last chapter of an amazing horses life.
This lovely mare came to Epona Safe Haven more than 8 years ago as an owner surrender. Her previous owner was a wonderful woman who rescued New Hope from an auction/ killpen where like most horses in this situation faced a horrific end to her life if they were not rescued and taken away from this fate. New Hope was in terrible shape, she had pneumonia and was severely dehydrated. Her previous owner knew she may not survive, but had to at least give this lovely mare a chance. New Hope was an OTTB that had raced, unfortunately we could not read her lip tattoo because it was old and faded. Hope was probably in her mid-late 20’s when she was rescued. With extraordinary love and veterinarian care New Hope managed to pull through and survived, unfortunately her previous owner had spent so much to treat New Hope’s illness and to get her to safety, having other horses at home she could not afford to keep New Hope. Epona Safe Haven gladly agreed to take her into our care and the rest is history. New Hope never met a child she didn’t love, she was our mascot and even until the end showed us she still had s***k from time to time! New Hope was our resident Easter bunny for annual photos and was gentle and kind with volunteers who were just learning about horses or having frailties of their own just needed to bond with this magnificent mare. New Hope not only survived, but thrived and lived into her mid thirties. Run free sweet girl, it was a privilege to know you and you will forever be in our hearts our hearts, we will miss you ❤️🐎

Today was a sad day for Epona Safe Haven and Journeys End Farm, we said goodbye to Timothy Catwell Esquire 😞Timmy came to the farm over 10 years ago as a “barn cat” and it was quickly apparent that Tim had aspirations to run the place! Catching mice was not on his resume and quite frankly was just beneath him! He supervised humans and horses alike and lived a lavish lifestyle! Many knew him most loved him and he will be missed terribly. Timmy left this world surrounded by love ❤️🐈

I’m excited to announce that Painted Horse Saddle Fit will now be offering truck-in saddle fitting appointments at Journey's End Farm, located in beautiful Foster, Rhode Island.

Journey’s End Farm is also home to Epona Safe Haven Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of rescue horses, and I’m honored to support the work they do. 💛

✨ To give back, I will be donating 10% of each client’s total bill from truck-in fittings at this location directly to Epona Safe Haven Horse Rescue.

This is a great option if you:
✅ want a dedicated fitting location

Our older residents were pampered last weekend by Alex of On the Rhodes Equine!! Alex is a good friend of Epona Safe Haven and gave our horses BEMER treatments!! The benefit from the treatment was incredible! There was a noticeable pep in everyone’s step! We highly recommend Alex for BEMER and many other services she offers! 🐴💚
