What a week at Fort Washington Food Pantry!

Just two days before distribution, we adjusted our Saturday hours from 9:00–11:00 AM to 8:30–10:30 AM due to the heat. We weren’t sure what to expect, but our neighbors showed up in full force.

🏠 226 households served
👥 577 individuals supported
🆕 57 new households welcomed
🆕 113 new individuals reached
🤝 50 volunteers served this week

We met so many new neighbors this week who told us they found us through Nextdoor and TikTok, proving that community outreach truly matters.

A special shoutout to our volunteers, who were proudly wearing their new Fort Washington Food Pantry shirts. Seeing everyone together in matching shirts was a reminder that this pantry is powered entirely by people who care.

☀️ IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE ☀️

Due to the high temperatures forecasted for Saturday, we are moving our Drive-Thru Food Distribution to an earlier time to help keep our clients, volunteers, and staff safe.

Please bring your Capital Area Food Bank card or driver’s license. If you do not have a card, we will sign you up on-site.

We encourage everyone to arrive early, stay hydrated, and plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding as we work to serve our community safely during the heat.

22,000+ pounds of food received and distributed

Every week, neighbors showed up for neighbors. From weekday donation pickups to Saturday drive-thru distribution, this impact was made possible by volunteers, donors, churches, schools, businesses, and community partners who continue believing in this mission.

Thank you so much to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections team for spending your morning serving alongside us at Fort Washington Food Pantry. Your support helped us continue providing groceries to more than 180 families in our community this week. 🤝 55 volunteers served throughout the week

We were grateful to have support from Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Washington, Maryland, pgcorrections, and Joint Base Andrews during Saturday’s distribution.

With sunshine overhead and neighbors helping neighbors, the atmosphere at the pantry was truly special today. Every volunteer hour, food donation, and act of kindness helped families throughout our region.

Friday crew showed up and showed out today! 💙☀️

From organizing and packing bags to stocking fridges, freezers, and preparing for tomorrow’s drive-thru distribution, this team put in the work once again. And now they’re doing it in their new Fort Washington Food Pantry shirts! 👕🙌

The matching shirts may be new, but the dedication, teamwork, and heart behind this crew has always been there. Every bag packed and every shelf stocked helps make Saturday possible for the hundreds of families we serve each week.

A beautiful Thursday at the pantry as our Community Pillars continued the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything moving for Saturday distribution. ☀️💙

Today we celebrate and honor a woman whose legacy will always be part of Fort Washington Food Pantry. Though retired, your impact continues to be felt in the work we do every single week.
