The Fort Washington Food Pantry will be open this Saturday, September 5, 2026, for our weekly drive-thru food distribution!

Please bring your Capital Area Food Bank card. Don’t have one yet? No problem! We can register you on site. Please bring a driver’s license or photo ID.

There are no ZIP code restrictions, and our pantry is open to anyone who needs a little extra help putting food on the table. ❤️

💚 Thank You, Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Washington, Maryland 💚

Some partnerships are about more than showing up. They become part of your story.

Grace Lutheran Church is one of the founding partners of the Fort Washington Food Pantry, and their support has continued through every season of this ministry.

They’ve served alongside us during the week. They’ve supported our Produce Hub, helped with food pickups, served as one of our dedicated Community Pillars, and they still show up on Saturdays to serve our neighbors.

And when the pantry went through one of its biggest transitions—leaving the place we’d known for decades and beginning a new chapter at Rosecroft Raceway—Grace Lutheran was still there. ❤️

Today, seeing so many familiar Grace Lutheran faces serving our neighbors reminded us just how much this partnership means.

To everyone at Grace Lutheran Church: thank you for the years of service, encouragement, love, and prayers you’ve poured into this pantry and the community we serve.

What a beautiful Saturday to serve our neighbors! ☀️💚

This week, 65 volunteers came together to keep the Fort Washington Food Pantry moving, and today we served:

🏡 228 households
👥 644 individuals
🌱 31 households visiting us for the first time
🌱 94 individuals served for the first time

A special thank you to Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Washington, Maryland, one of our dedicated Community Pillars, for coming out in full force Saturday. There is something special about consistency—our neighbors recognize those familiar faces, and it was a pleasure seeing those relationships continue to grow.

🌱 FOUNDING GARDEN TEAM RECRUITMENT & KICKOFF PLANNING MEETING 🌱

The time has come!

Rosecroft has officially given the Fort Washington Food Pantry land directly across from the pantry for our new Community Garden, and we’re inviting the community to help build it from the ground up.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener, a builder, a landscaper, an irrigation expert, or someone who’s simply excited to learn, we want you on our Founding Garden Team.

During our kickoff meeting, we will:

Our goal is simple: grow fresh food for our neighbors while creating a place where our community can learn, serve, and grow together.

This isn’t just about planting vegetables.

It’s about planting something that will serve Fort Washington for years to come.

Fort Washington Food Pantry has grown — and so has the amount of food we need every week.

While we’re grateful for every food donation and every pound of food we rescue, our largest expense is purchasing food.

The reality is simple: donated and rescued food alone isn’t enough to meet the growing need.

💚 IT’S NATIONAL NONPROFIT DAY — AND WE NEED OUR NEIGHBORS. 💚

Today, August 17, is National Nonprofit Day, and we’re celebrating what happens when a community decides to take care of its own.

Fort Washington Food Pantry is 100% volunteer-run. No paid staff. Just neighbors giving their time, picking up rescued food, sorting produce, packing bags, directing traffic, loading cars, and showing up week after week.

And our community has been showing up, too.

So far in 2026, we’ve served thousands of households and individuals and rescued tens of thousands of pounds of food from local retailers — food that can feed our neighbors instead of going to waste.

But here’s the other side of running a nonprofit:

The food may be donated, but running a food pantry isn’t free.

We still have operating expenses, supplies, equipment needs, transportation costs, maintenance, and all the little things it takes to serve hundreds of neighbors every week.

So for National Nonprofit Day, we’re asking our community to invest in the pantry that serves its community every Saturday.
