Ashlyn P. came to CareerSource Okaloosa Walton with a strong passion for helping others, having previously worked as a phlebotomist and developing a deep commitment to patients, especially for those going through difficult times. Determined to grow in the medical field, Ashlyn enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training program at Okaloosa Technical College with support from the WIOA program.

Throughout her journey, Ashlyn actively engaged in services such as resume assistance and worked closely with her Career Advisor, demonstrating dedication and reliability. Her commitment paid off as she successfully completed her training and earned her LPN license.

Today, Ashlyn is employed as an LPN earning $29 per hour. Her story reflects the power of determination, compassion, and the impact of workforce development programs in helping individuals achieve meaningful and rewarding careers in healthcare.

Ellen’s journey is a powerful example of determination, growth, and passion for helping others. She first connected with CareerSource Okaloosa Walton in August 2024, bringing with her a strong foundation in healthcare as a phlebotomist and a deep desire to advance her career.

From the beginning, Ellen knew that healthcare was her calling. She shared that she loved working in the field and found fulfillment in caring for others. However, she wanted more, she aspired to take on a greater challenge and expand her impact by becoming a nurse. With that goal in mind, Ellen enrolled in services provided through the WIOA Adult program, where she received guidance and support to help map out her career path.

Through CareerSource Okaloosa Walton, Ellen gained access to training opportunities and career development resources that helped her move forward. She pursued and successfully completed Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training, earning her license and achieving a major milestone in her professional journey.

Her hard work and commitment paid off. In February 2026, Ellen began her new role as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In this position, she continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients, while earning a wage of $30.50 per hour.

Ellen’s story highlights the impact of perseverance combined with the right support system. Her willingness to embrace challenges and continue growing in her field exemplifies what success looks like. Today, she stands as an inspiration to others seeking to advance their careers and pursue their passions.

Our shared mission of serving Veterans is strongest when we work together. This meeting is designed to bring organizations across Okaloosa and Walton counties into one room to exchange ideas, share resources, and strengthen partnerships that directly impact the lives of Veterans and their families. By collaborating, we can identify service gaps, highlight successful programs, and build a more connected support network for those who have served our nation.
