Meet Benji. A very sweet boy that needs immediate help. His owner, a resident of Fort Pierce, fell upon hard times after her ceiling caved in during the hurricane. Instead of fixing the problem, her landlord decided to evict her and she has been living in a motel through assistance from FEMA, which runs out on 12/12/2024. This poor woman is on disability of only $900 per month and has no choice but to move in with her daughter, where sadly Benji is not welcomed. She therefore has made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to Mission Pawsible rescue.

She has had Benji for 8 years and got him when he was around 1 years old. Unfortunately, due to her being on disability, she has not been able to provide for him in the way that he needs. Benji has not seen a vet or a groomer in the 8 years she has had him. He has an unknown skin condition that makes him itchy and his skin is very irritated and most likely painful too. We are needing help raising funds in order to be able to take him to the vet and do a sedated grooming and nail trim as he is so painful and grumpy, nobody can touch him. We also need to get him a full workup including bloodwork, deworming, flea treatment, and allergy testing.

Please help us help this beautiful boy. He deserves to live out his golden years in peace and comfort. Once he is vetted and healthy, he will be ready for adoption.

This is Zara who is also affectionately called Poppy. When we first laid eyes on her she was a frightened little pup who was going to be euthanized because she had severe demodex as well as other complications. BUT after TLC from her amazing foster at she is READY to be adopted. The one who adopts this sweet pup is lucky indeed because Zara is awesome!!! She is a medium sized dog and will be under 40lbs,she is smart, affectionate, fun, loves water, other animals, and playtime. If you are interested in learning more, here is her petfinder link or you can send inquiries to [email protected].

She looks like a different dog! What a trans FUR mation already! Zara was rescued from Miami Dade and has been transported (thanks Heather Shannon Glassman!) up to St Lucie County where she is being fostered and LOVED (thanks Nikki Guarino) Zara is so sweet and affectionate. She plays great with other dogs and kids and wasn’t phased by any of my barn animals (although I reckon she’d chase a chicken if I let her lol) She will be ready for adoption soon. Please message me if you are interested in meeting her. She is estimated 7 months old. If you want to help us help her and other dogs like her please contribute on this link and share

GIVE A DOG A MINI VACATION 🐶🌴

It's been quite stormy here in Port St. Lucie these past few weeks. With all of that wind, rain, and thunder, many of our dogs are in need of a mini vacation to relax and unwind.

If you can spare some space on your couch or in your home for 7 days, we'd love to be able to pair you up with a pup and let you host their mini vacation. Together, you can binge-watch all of your favorite shows, run a few errands and do a little online shopping, snap some photos, and start a beautiful friendship.

There are over 60 dogs who are looking to take a mini vacation, but we're only asking you to help just 1. You can view them all by visiting hsslc.org/adoptable-dogs and filling out the application below:

Amen! 🙏❤️

So sadly true because there is something to do to stop the “iceberg” and yet nothing is done.

So sadly true because there is something to do to stop the “iceberg” and yet nothing is done.

Simple Analogy — Why rescues can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says things like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water (pounds and shelters) gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues Groups are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and irresponsible people who won’t spay/neuter.

Please be kind to rescue groups, we are trying our best to keep our little rafts afloat!

In January, a scared and skinny stray was scheduled to be euthanized at Palm Beach Animal Control. Together, we saved him from this fate and he gained his confidence and WEIGHT in our foster care. And NOW (drumroll please) he is officially ADOPTED to the BEST family we could have imagined for him!! Let’s congratulate Ralph and his new family!
