What an amazing event the Teddy Bear Tea was this past weekend at Speckled Pear Market, sponsored by Maisie's Green Brae. A beautiful afternoon filled with parents and their littles connecting over fun tea flavors, delicious sandwiches and treats, beautiful music and connection all in Ashton’s memory. So lucky to have Faith home for the weekend to assist. One of her favorite parts was handing out our cute, fuzzy bears with ChooseKind hoodies on. Printing was provided by our friends at artisticembroiderysc . Definitely goes on our list of favorite events!

Extra big thank yous to Christine and Karl Schafer and Robyn and Mike Bader for including us in this wonderful event. It brought back many good memories of when our girls were little.

We’ve made wonderful connections through the years and are grateful when we can help out organizations we’ve helped in the past. We have 8 Easter baskets filled with goodies going to kids age 3 to 15. 4 to Pilgrims Inn and 4 to Family Promise of York County. All of these kids are dealing with not having secure housing so we were happy to help things feel more normal for them. Jimmy, Faith and I did some shopping over Faiths spring break. All the money you help us raise goes directly to these types of acts of kindness. We can’t fill Ashton’s Easter basket anymore but we can help others in her honor.

Opening FB to see this success story and recognizing the blue bin of kitchen supplies, the box of dishes and the hamper of bedding - all donated during ChooseKindACD week helping others - Ashton would be so proud!!!

Today is World Kindness Day!!!! I’m sure before Ashton was killed this was just another day, but acts of kindness feel different now - we know how deeply one can lift you up and it of course reminds us of our girl and her big heart!!! So today if all days choose kind!!!
In honor of Ashton we will be donating to our local friends who every year make sure families in need have a thanksgiving dinner. We’ve personally shopped for a thanksgiving bag for several years. ChooseKindACD will also donate 3 bags this year. If you can help the information is below. Convenient drop off at Tega Graze or Venmo -Tolentino by Monday November 17. The need is great this year with over 225 families signed up to receive meals. Help if you can 💙💙

Forgive me for taking a few days to recover from our Annual Anchorage Oyster Roast. I truly don’t have words to describe how grateful our family is to everyone who came out to celebrate Ashton’s legacy of choosing kindness. It was amazing to see so many familiar faces, those who have been with us from the beginning to new friends. It was definitely our biggest turnout and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for everyone to stay until the end!!! Allison and Jake provided the perfect entertainment and our amazing friends shucked almost 800 oysters. Together we raised $5800 - our best year yet!!! I saw a FB memory from 3 years ago where we raised $1442 - to put how successful this years event was into perspective! I’ll be tagging our crew over the next few days but wanted to get out a few pictures. If you attended and took pictures please add in the comments. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!!!! The last two baskets I’m highlighting have such personal meaning. When we started doing baskets Jimmy came up with the idea of an Ashton’s favorite things basket, as a chance for those who never met her to see a little of what she loved.
It’s easy to buy her favorite thing to share - spicy snacks, sugary treats, fast food, coffee and doughnuts, her favorite fragrance, lacrosse and swimming. It’s harder to capture her spirit - she truly had a huge heart, open to accepting new friends, forgiving of those who hurt her, always a smile and a compliment. Loud music pumping from her car. Making us laugh and testing our boundaries. She is one of a kind and she is missed so deeply by so many.. we put in the effort because she is worth remembering.

And the ChooseKindACD basket - because wearing her favorite color and spreading her message is comforting. 🩵💙
