On Monday Faith and I delivered our final ChooseKind project for this year’s ChooseKind ACD week. You guys provided amazing support to this one, delivering almost everything we needed from our Amazon wishlist. As a reminder, this was 100 goody bags for Isaiah 117 House in York County. They provide a safe place for kids who are being placed in emergency foster care. We got to meet Christi, the director and two other volunteers. The house is gorgeous. It felt so warm and welcoming and you could feel the love and care radiating off the volunteers. Christi gave us a tour and we ended up in their HUGE closet where they provide brand new clothes, shoes, suitcases, etc. Most of these kiddos arrive with nothing and this is a place for them to feel special and know they will be taken care of. They have a large list of volunteers who are present when the kids arrive and help them feel at home. These goody bags were made for the volunteers to keep occupied or act as a bridge to engaging with the kids. Christi told us they could also be used for some of the older kids. Thanks to your support we made 100 bags filled with adult coloring books, puzzle books, gel pens or markers, fidget toys, a deck of cards and snacks. On average each bag was about $20, so $2,000 worth of goodies. It was truly an honor to get to know about this worthy cause. While we were there we learned we could become involved by purchasing clothes, shoes, and supplies for future use. We will be able to provide for a teenage girl for the next year as a way to continue to choose kind and honor Ashton. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. Truly a wonderful way to end our Choosekindacd week’s activities.
