What a gift it was to gather with CRI responders in Houston this week!

While we were at the Natural Disasters Expo, we connected for a regional responder gathering. Our responders are spread out across the country, and most of the time we only see each other during deployment. Being together in the same room, without a disaster in front of us, meant a lot.

We spent the time in prayer, ministry and dreaming together about what God has ahead for CRI and for every responder in this family.

Thank you to everyone who came out. We're so grateful for each one of you, and we can't wait for the next time we get to be together.

We’re still seeing the fruit of our deployment to Nepal.

Nepal was one of the most difficult deployments we’ve walked through. Washed out roads, communities cut off by the flood, and doors that took real patience to open.

While on the ground, our team built a working connection with the World Food Programme’s logistics team, which coordinates helicopter transport of relief supplies under the United Nations. We submitted a service request for a helicopter drop, and our team worked through all required approvals to release government relief resources to 197 families.

None of that happens without the partners who trained us, gave, and prayed with us.

Over the last 19 years, CRI has trained more than 20,000 responders, and we may have lost touch with some of you along the way.

The responders who already live close to an impact zone could be some of the first on the ground, helping us assess and set up base camp for the teams coming in behind them. Hurricane Isaias Strengthens to Category 2, Heads for Gulf Coast Landfall

We have seen weaker storms do far more damage than anyone expected.

How fast a storm moves and how much moisture it carries can matter just as much as its category.

Our team is monitoring Isaias closely and will share updates as we learn more.

Ten years ago today, Hurricane Matthew sent floodwaters rushing beneath Freda's home in Lumberton, NC. She grabbed her dog, one change of clothes, and her laptop, and fled.

Then she sent one text to CRI: "Come to Lumberton. It's bad."

What happened next changed how she sees that storm forever. "God didn't send the storm and the flood, but He absolutely sent the help."

CRI was born in New York, out of our founder's family responding after 9/11. Training responders on Long Island is personal for us.

On Saturday, November 21, we'll be at Compass Church in East Northport for a full day of CRI Responder Training. You'll learn how to show up when crisis hits somebody's life and how to care for the whole person: physical, emotional, and spiritual.

If you've ever watched a disaster on the news and wondered what you could actually do, come find out. Every responder is a minister.

Fall is here, and we've been looking back at this summer.

We're not about big numbers. Jesus left the 99 for the one, and that's how we try to serve: one family, one home, one conversation at a time. Still, we want you to see what God did this summer in Venezuela, Spokane, and Nepal.

Along the way, our responders handed out 125 audio Bibles, one person at a time. Never a drop off, always a conversation.
