Meet O'Malley 🐈⬛
Two years ago, O'Malley wandered onto the ranch as a stray cat looking for food, shelter, and maybe a little kindness.
Justine and Liz worked hard to gain his trust through meals, warm cat beds, and patience in the hopes that he would choose to make Rhythm of the Horse his home. Eventually, he did.
O'Malley began spending time around the therapy room, curiously watching students and visitors as they worked with the horses. While he never demanded attention, he always seemed to want to be part of whatever was happening, quickly becoming an essential part of our program as a therapy cat.
Today, O'Malley needs our help 😢
On Sunday morning, while feeding the animals, Liz noticed O'Malley was suddenly unable to bear weight on one of his front legs. We still don't know exactly what happened, but after consulting with veterinarians and the board members at Rhythm of the Horse, he was rushed to the emergency vet.
X-rays revealed a severe fracture. O'Malley was placed in a splint, given pain medication, and sent home while we arranged specialized care.
He is now scheduled to be evaluated at CSU, where veterinarians will determine whether his leg can be repaired through surgery or if amputation will be the best path forward. At this time, we simply don't know what his treatment plan will be until they complete a full examination.
The estimated cost of his care is currently between $1,000 and $4,000.
Despite everything, O'Malley has remained incredibly brave. He continues to eat, purr, seek attention, and remind us every day why he is such a special part of our farm family.
If you are able to contribute toward O'Malley's medical expenses, any amount helps. If you cannot donate, sharing his story means the world to us.
Thank you for helping us give this sweet boy the chance to continue living the life he worked so hard to build.
