May 20 is Bike to Work Day 🚲

Today is a great reminder that small choices can support our overall health β€” whether that means biking to work, taking a walk, drinking more water, wearing sunscreen, scheduling a checkup, or simply taking a few moments to care for yourself.

At the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition, we know that every health journey looks different. Some days, wellness is movement. Some days, it is rest. Some days, it is asking for help.

Today, we encourage our community to keep moving in whatever way feels right for you β€” and to continue supporting local individuals and families impacted by cancer.

🚲 Move with purpose
πŸ’— Care for your health

May 17 is World Baking Day, and today we are celebrating one of the sweetest ways people show love: baking for others. πŸ’—

When someone is going through cancer, support can come in many forms β€” a ride to treatment, a listening ear, a prayer, a card, a meal, or a homemade treat dropped off at just the right time.

Sometimes comfort looks like banana bread on the counter, cookies for the kids, muffins for a long appointment day, or a casserole made with love.

Today, help us spread a little sweetness:

πŸͺ What is your favorite baked good to make for someone you love?
🧁 Or tag someone whose baking always brings comfort and joy.

Because love, like cookies, is best when shared. πŸ’—

May is Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month πŸ–€

This is an important reminder to protect the skin you’re in and make skin health a priority.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:

β˜€οΈ Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily
πŸ” Reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming or sweating
🧒 Wear hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing
🌀️ Seek shade during peak sun hours
πŸ” Check your skin regularly for any new or changing spots

Early detection matters. If you notice something unusual, do not ignore it.

At the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition, we stand with the individuals and families affected by melanoma and all forms of cancer, while encouraging awareness, prevention, and early detection.

πŸ–€ Protect your skin
πŸ–€ Check your skin
πŸ–€ Encourage early detection
