💗 Remembering Shelley Glass — The Heart Behind Our Mission 💗
Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind something that continues to change lives long after they're gone.
Shelley Glass did both.
On October 16, 2014, we lost a remarkable woman. But what Shelley created, and the love she poured into it, continues to make a difference every single day.
In 2012, while facing her own battle with breast cancer, Shelley saw a need in our community. She understood firsthand that a cancer diagnosis brings so much more than medical appointments and treatments. It brings fear, uncertainty, financial struggles, and worries that no family should have to face alone.
And even in the middle of her own fight, Shelley wanted to help others.
That compassion became the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition.
What began with one woman's vision has grown into something truly extraordinary. Because of Shelley, local families have received help keeping a roof over their heads, paying bills, putting food on their tables, and getting to lifesaving treatments. More importantly, they have been reminded that their community cares and that they are not alone.
Twelve years after her passing, Shelley's mission is still alive. In every fundraiser, every donation, every volunteer who gives their time, and every family we are privileged to help, there is a piece of her legacy.
We often talk about the difference one person can make. Shelley is proof of just how powerful that difference can be.
To Shelley's family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved her, we hope you find comfort in knowing that her kindness did not end when her life did. It continues to reach people she never had the opportunity to meet, in ways she may never have imagined.
Shelley, we wish you could see what your dream has become. We hope we are making you proud.
From all of us at the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition, thank you for showing us what it means to turn compassion into action, and for leaving us with a mission worth carrying forward.
We will continue the work you started. We will continue showing up for our neighbors. And we will never forget the woman who made it all possible.
