🎉 ONE YEAR OF NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS! 💙
As we celebrate Good Neighbor Health & Outreach, Inc.’s first year, we wanted to share just how much has been accomplished through the generosity and support of our amazing community!
The needs have not stopped pouring in, and I’d be lieing if I said I haven’t been a little discouraged not being able to fulfill 100% of the requests. If you know me personally, you know I can’t stand not being able to figure something out! But looking taking a look back at what all has been accomplished over the last year really brings it all together. I could not be more thankful and proud of our community!!
💙 Here’s a look at what we’ve been able to give during our first year… all completely FREE… and all because of YOU.
♿ MOBILITY & MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
* 8 walkers (5 rollators & 3 rolling walkers)
* 3 canes
* 1 wheelchair
* 4 shower chairs
* 1 tub transfer bench
* 1 elevated toilet seat
* 1 set of toilet safety rails
* 3 grabbers/reachers
* 3 donut cushions
* 4+ positioning wedges
* 2 sets of hospital bed sheets
* 1 portable oxygen concentrator
* 4+ sets of oxygen tubing/cannulas
* 1 CPAP mask
* 1 tracheostomy collar/mask set
🧻 INCONTINENCE & PERSONAL CARE SUPPLIES
* Approximately 504 adult diapers, briefs & pull-ups
* Approximately 183 disposable bed pads
* Approximately 40 men’s incontinence pads
* Approximately 576 wet wipes
* 5 tubes/containers of barrier cream
* 1 pack of barrier wipes
* 1 bottle of no-rinse perineal wash
* Antifungal cream & powder
* Disposable bibs
🩺 OSTOMY SUPPLIES
* 200 colostomy bags (20 boxes!)
* 120 colostomy wafers (24 boxes!)
* 5 boxes of ostomy barrier strips
* 2 boxes of ostomy barrier rings
* 2 tubes of ostomy crusting powder
* 5 bottles + 1 box of ostomy deodorizer drops
* 1 box of ostomy bag clips
* 3 bottles of skin prep spray
💙 That’s 320 colostomy bags and wafers alone! These essential supplies can be incredibly expensive, especially for uninsured individuals and families struggling to afford their medical needs.
🥤 NUTRITION & FEEDING SUPPLIES
* 264 cartons of Jevity 1.5 tube-feeding formula (11 cases!)
* 1 case of nutritional shakes
* 1 box of enteral feeding bags
🩸 HEALTH MONITORING & MEDICATION SUPPLIES
* 4 blood pressure monitors
* 2 glucometers
* 50+ blood glucose test strips
* Blood glucose lancets
* 1 pulse oximeter
* 3 weekly pill organizers
🩹 WOUND CARE & MEDICAL SUPPLIES
* 140 tracheostomy inner cannulas (14 boxes!)
* 3 boxes of medical gloves
* 4 boxes of surgical masks
* 2 packs of ABD dressings
* Nonadherent dressings
* Gauze
* Medical tape
* ACE wraps
* 2 pairs of compression stockings
* Assorted wound care supplies & bandages
👕 CLOTHING, HYGIENE & HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
* 4 large bags of clothing
* 3 packs of men’s underwear
* 2 packs of men’s undershirts
* 5 boxes/packs of feminine hygiene products
* Plates & cups
* Toothbrushes & toothpaste
* Soap, lotion & mouthwash
💐 SPREADING KINDNESS
* 20 beautiful flower bouquets
* 20 toiletry gift bags
* 20 children’s gift bags filled with candy & cards
These items were provided to Haven House in McDonough to help spread a little love and encouragement! ❤️
🏡 3 WHEELCHAIR RAMPS — MADE POSSIBLE BY OUR COMMUNITY!
One of the most incredible parts of this year has been witnessing neighbors step up to help other neighbors!
❤️ 1 wheelchair ramp was completely funded and built by generous local businesses who donated the money, materials, and labor to make it happen!
❤️ 2 previously used wheelchair ramps were generously donated and reinstalled at new homes, giving them a second life while helping two more neighbors gain accessibility and independence!
We are so thankful for the businesses, donors, and volunteers who made these projects possible. Good Neighbor was simply blessed to help connect the needs with the amazing people willing to meet them!
🎗️ COMING TOGETHER FOR LEVI & HIS FAMILY
Our community also came together in an incredible way to help Levi and his family after an unexpected brain cancer diagnosis the week before Thanksgiving.
❤️ Approximately $7,000 RAISED through the generosity of our community!
🎄 Christmas gifts were completely covered for BOTH Levi and his sister!
🍽️ Christmas dinner was also fully provided for their family!
This was so much more than fundraising. It was a community showing a family that they were loved, supported, and not alone.
💙 AND THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!
Every walker, every package of diapers, every box of medical supplies, every wheelchair ramp, and every act of kindness represents a neighbor whose burden was made a little lighter.
Some donations may seem small, but to the person who needs them, they can make a world of difference.
We could never have accomplished all of this without the individuals, families, businesses, healthcare professionals, fire departments, and community members who have donated, volunteered, shared our posts, and helped spread the word.
