What Do You Always Pack for Cold-Weather Camping?

Not necessarily the obvious essentials, but something you’ve learned from experience makes a cold-weather campout more comfortable.

Extra dry clothes? A particular kind of sleeping gear? Wool socks? 🧦

Share your tips below! Someone may be getting ready for their first chilly campout and appreciate the advice.

Important camping question… How do you make your s’mores?

Are you a traditional graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow person?

Do you use peanut butter cups instead of chocolate?

Do you like your marshmallow barely toasted or practically on fire?

Or do you skip the s’mores and make something else entirely?

Let us know below, and be sure to print off this coloring sheet.

Let’s say we are sitting around a campfire, everyone has a full mug of hot chocolate, and there’s nowhere else you need to be for the evening.

What’s your ideal campfire evening? Are we telling stories? Doing skits? Playing a game? Singing? Roasting marshmallows? Just sitting around talking?

Lord, please guide our girls as they grow in faith, character, and confidence.

Lead them to be kind, courageous when they’re afraid, and willing to stand for what’s right even when it’s not the popular choice.

Give them hearts that notice others, hands that are ready to serve, and the wisdom to recognize the gifts You’ve given them.

Please guide our parents and leaders, too, as we do our best to encourage and lead these girls.

Amen.

Cool camping weather is here!

We need some meal ideas for our upcoming camping trip. What are your go-to meals when you’re camping in cooler weather?

Share your favorites! Breakfast, lunch or dinner ideas welcome! Especially if it’s something that can easily feed a large group.

One of the things I love about being outdoors is that it give us a chance to step away from our usual routines for a little while.

A walk through the woods, a campfire, a night under the stars, soaking in a sunset, or even just sitting outside on a cool afternoon can be a good reminder to slow down and appreciate what God has created.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
- Psalm 19:1

What’s your favorite way to enjoy the outdoors this time of year?

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
-1 Corinthians 15:57

As we settle into another AHG year, I hope our girls remember that victory isn’t always about getting everything right or being the best at something.

Sometimes it’s having the courage to try, choosing to do the right thing when it’s hard, or getting back up after a disappointment.

Those moments matter, too.
