We were honored to attend the 2026 Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Conference in Atlanta this week!

One of the most special experiences of the week was touring Koinonia Farm and Americus, where the vision that would become Habitat for Humanity was brought to life.

As Habitat celebrates 50 years, there’s something really special about being surrounded by people from all over who are working toward the same thing: families, communities, and a future where everyone has a decent place to live. We were grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, share ideas, and be inspired alongside so many incredible Habitat affiliates from across the country and around the world.

We’re heading home with new knowledge, new connections, fresh ideas, and an even greater passion for the work we get to do right here in Rutherford County 💙

Two years ago, Hurricane Helene changed Western North Carolina forever.

The damage was overwhelming. Homes were lost, lives were disrupted, and communities faced challenges that many of us never could have imagined. But alongside the devastation, we witnessed something just as powerful: people showing up for one another.

We want to take a moment to say thank you to every person who volunteered, donated, delivered supplies, opened their doors, lent a helping hand, or simply asked, “What can I do?”

Thank you to everyone who partnered with us and helped us serve families in the aftermath. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina for providing critical funding and support. Thank you to the good ole boys and their planes for helping get resources where they were needed. And thank you to every other organization, business, church, group, and individual who stepped up.

There were so many hands, so many hearts, and so many people willing to do whatever needed to be done.

It took a team. And what a team it was.

As we remember two years since Helene, I hope we remember it not just for what happened, but for how people showed up for each other.

That is the part we will carry with us.

Western North Carolina showed the world what community looks like when it matters most. And we will never forget it. 💙
