Troop 1096 scouts have officially reached the midway mark of their Philmont trek. 🏔️🎒They’ve learned a few vital survival tips along the way: spar poles yield top-tier views, deer make great dinner companions, chipmunks are criminal masterminds, and live backcountry music makes every mile worth it. Wish our scouts luck on the home stretch! 🥾

Troop 1096 Scouts arrived safely at Philmont Scout Ranch yesterday!
From touring the grounds to getting fully loaded packs fitted, the Scouts are officially off on their trek into the backcountry. Safe adventures and happy trails! 🌲⛰️

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
Today, Troop 1096 Scouts stepped up to assist American Legion Post 354 with their 4th of July event, dedicated to honoring our nation and our veterans.
From helping set up and assisting our local heroes to participating in the ceremonies, these scouts showed true leadership, respect, and community spirit. It was incredibly moving to see multiple generations coming together today to salute those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.
We are proud of the dedication Troop 1096 showed today. Thank you for making this Independence Day so meaningful, and thank you to all of our veterans at Post 354!

Hooked on scouting! 🎣 Troop 1096 scouts spent the morning out by the water, and the fish were definitely biting!
Our scouts showed off their angling skills and hauled in a classic trifecta today, reeling in some channel cats, some bluegill, and some hard-fighting bass. Shoutout to our Florence neighbors who generously offered the use of their personal stock tank for the scouts to have fun today!

🐻 And that’s a wrap on Summer Camp 2026 at Bear Creek Scout Camp! 🌲
Troop 1096 absolutely crushed their final day. The morning started with a hard push to finish up those last few merit badge requirements, leading right into an afternoon of free-choice activities. Some of our scouts spent their time playing sports, while other scouts bravely faced their fears and took the ultimate leap of faith off the cliff on Bear Creek’s famous zip line with Ms. BJ and Scoutmaster Tom!
Huge scout shout-out to all the parents who showed up for family dinner. The scouts absolutely loved playing tour guide and showing you around the camp! We wrapped up an incredible week with an awesome closing campfire packed with funny scout skits. Tomorrow morning we break camp and head home. We’re exhausted, a little sunburnt and coming back with a ton of great memories (and maybe a little extra laundry). See you soon, families!
