🧁🎈 PLATE & PLAY YESTERDAY: GAME ON, EMOTIONS IN CHECK! 🧠☀️

Yesterday’s Plate & Play Summer Series at Dr. Jones Park was an absolute masterclass in fun and intentional growth! We spent the afternoon with our young leaders diving deep into Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), focusing on three incredible life pillars: Capacity, Self-Regulation, and Co-Regulation.

But we didn't just talk about these concepts; our youth lived them through hands-on, interactive games with Ms. Cupcake! Here is how we broke it down in real time:

🎈 Blowing Up Balloons (Capacity & Self-Regulation): Our youth used balloons to visualize their emotional "tanks." They learned that just like a balloon, we all have a maximum capacity before we pop! We discussed the importance of self-regulate when big emotions start to build.

⭕ The Hula Hoop Balance (Co-Regulation): Using just one finger each, our young leaders had to work in perfect synchronization to move a hula hoop up and down without letting it drop. If one person pushed too hard or pulled too fast, the whole hoop becomes off-balanced! This powerful exercise taught them co-regulation; showing them firsthand how their individual energy, focus, and behavior directly impact the people around them.

We are so incredibly proud of how our youth showed up, communicated, and supported one another. We aren't just playing hard out here in Florence; we are building resilient minds and future builders! 👑💪🏽

🤝 Trust, Respect, & Good Vibes with Ms. Cupcake! 🤝

The moment those bright yellow tents went up in Dr. Jones Park, the kids knew exactly what time it was; time to play, connect, and grow! 🌳✨

In fact, the youth literally asked us to start coming out at 2:00 PM, so you already know we had to make it happen for them. Fridays from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM it is! ⏰🙌

Our Plate & Play Summer Series had another powerful day of engagement, and this session was all about two major building blocks for our youth:

Trust and Respect.

Led by our amazing Youth Engagement Specialist, Ms. Cupcake, the kids gathered together to talk about building a safe, supportive community where everyone feels valued. From active circle discussions to practicing teamwork and listening to one another during games, these future leaders showed us exactly what respect looks like in action! 🎒❤️

🚀 PLATE & PLAY LAUNCH: A MASSIVE SUCCESS IN NORTH FLORENCE! 🚀

Our Summer Series Kickoff was an absolute movie, and we owe a massive thank you to our incredible community and leaders for showing up so big! Because of your support, we officially registered over 80 families and served more than 200 hot meals right in the heart of our neighborhood! 🌭🥗🍧

We want to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to the amazing leaders and groups who came out to stand with our youth and power this launch:

🌟 Mayor Lethonia Peaches Barnes – Thank you for your powerful words of encouragement and for leading our community in a beautiful opening prayer to kick off the summer safely.

🌟 Angela Greene (Police Chief) & the City of Florence Police Department – Thank you for your incredible presence, for connecting so beautifully with our kids, and for providing the thrilling K-9 and drone demonstrations that everyone is still talking about!

Our "Plate & Play" Summer Series Kickoff was an absolute dream seeing our North Florence community come together! We registered over 80 families and served more than 200 people with delicious food, laughter, and pure joy! 🌭🥗🍧
