Farmington NY Cub Scouts Pack 50

Congratulations to our Cub Scouts who “ranked up” last night at our annual campout. What a great evening for everyone to come together. There’s something about a campout that sparks fun and creativity.

Our tradition is to affix their rank patch upside down. In order to wear it right side up, scouts must “Do A Good Turn” -something helpful and kind for someone else.

Next up…Adventure Camp at Camp Cutler, and the Farmington Fire Association parade in July!

Our Bear scouts became mad scientists as they learned about static ⚡️ electricity and density⚖️, as part of their “Super Science adventure.

One thing they learned about the scientific method is that not all experiments go exactly as planned. But as Mark Rober (of “CrunchLabs” fame) says, that’s is a mechanism to learn and try again with new knowledge!

Huge thanks to Mercy Flight Central for hosting the Pack tonight. The scouts posed awesome questions as they learned about how this amazing agency and their pilots, paramedics, and nurses help people when minutes matter. 🚁 🩺🏥

The Forensic Investigation Unit at New York State Police Troop E turned our Bear Scouts into crime scene investigators and evidence processors. They learned how to photograph a crime scene, the importance of scene preservation, and how to examine fingerprints in the lab. 🫆 📸

Yesterday, five scouts received their Arrow of Light rank. The Arrow of Light is the highest rank in the Cub Scouts program, serves as both a rank and award, and is the only Cub Scout rank/award that may be worn in Scouts BSA.

All five will join BSA Troop 61 - Victor NY.

We had so many key community members come to support these young leaders - Thank you!

The food pantry at St. John’s was built by a Pack 50 Alumnus for his Eagle Scout project. Donations will be placed in his pantry for those in need to access at any time.
