Kitchen Crew has already become a favorite activity for our members and staff! 👩‍🍳

Our aspiring chef members have the opportunity to work together in our kitchen, making tasty treats with their friends! By practicing ServSafe food preparation and handling everyone learns the dos and don't of the kitchen. Whether they're looking to reenter the work force, or just want to be responsible when cooking at home this is THE way to pick up those skills, while practicing teamwork! We'll be selling some of our baked goods made with love this Thursday at the Farmington Farmer's Market. (Assuming we don't eat them all ourselves. 😋)

We'd like to recognize one of our Partner Sponsors, Finger Lakes Credit Union! ✨

We have so many new things happening here this year, and we wouldn't be able to keep expanding our services without the help of generous sponsors in our community. Thank you Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union for helping Bridges for Brain Injury in our mission of helping brain injury survivors!

Do you ever miss the time spent at summer camp with your best friends?⛺ Skipping rocks on the pond, yard games, and more? So did we, so we decided to have a camping day at the farm! We all got to enjoy summer camp themed games, a cookout style lunch menu, and even a tent!

Now who brought the marshmallows? 🍫

✨ The Brave Notes Play "Come Together" Live ✨

The Brave Notes are a band made up of members here at Bridges for Brain Injury. All of them are at different skill levels, but they take lessons together, practice together, and now play live on stage together. Their message is that music is for everyone.

This was taken at Homesteads for Hope's Inclusivity Fair where The Brave Notes open the festival with a 5 song set. We hope you enjoy their rendition of "Come Together" by The Beatles!

👩‍🍳🌱 From our garden to the Farmington Farm Market!

The Bridges Kitchen Crew kicked off its first week by making Piña Colada Zucchini Bread using fresh zucchini grown right in our own garden! After measuring, mixing, baking, and packaging their delicious creation, the crew sold it at the Farmington Farm Market. What an exciting way to see their hard work come full circle!

But Kitchen Crew is cooking up much more than tasty treats. Participants are building confidence, practicing teamwork, and learning practical kitchen and food-safety skills, including proper handwashing, sanitation, preventing cross-contamination, following recipes, and safely using kitchen equipment.

Over the next several months, the crew will explore new recipes while incorporating produce and herbs grown on the farm whenever possible. We can’t wait to see, and taste, what they create next!

A heartfelt thank-you to the Mary Clark Thompson Foundation for funding adaptive kitchen tools, food-safety education, and ServSafe training. Your support is helping our Kitchen Crew grow their skills, confidence, and independence, one recipe at a time! 💙
