The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan

The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan Providing support to Michigan blood cancer patients & families for over 70 years. Formerly CLF.

The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan has been dedicated to addressing the emotional, financial, and social needs of patients and families affected by blood cancer across Michigan for nearly 70 years. Master's level professionals personalize critical education and support services to each patient and family member, completely free of cost, elevating their ability to cope and heal – from diagnosi

s, through treatment and beyond. Today, we serve 2,800 patients+ and 8,700 family members across the state. And, since our first year of service delivery, we have supported more than 30,000 patients, and untold members of their families. The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan is proud to be among only a quarter of rated charities at charitynavigator.org, who have received the maximum 4-stars for strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. The organization earned a 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, showcasing the progress and results made toward its mission. Fundraising* is crucial for continuation of BCFM’s services, and because its primary focus is to support patients and families, the majority of funding directly benefits those it serves.

*We do not phone solicit, and donations stay in Michigan.

Thank you to the Battle Creek Community Foundation, Bay Area Community Foundation, and the Fund for the Community & the Dorothy Scott Fund for Senior Citizens of Petoskey-Harbor Springs for the generous grants recently gifted to The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan! The funds from these foundations make a meaningful difference in the lives of blood cancer patients in each local community. With this funding, we're able to expand access to critical resources, improve quality of life, and provide compassionate support for individuals and families navigating incredibly challenging circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us on Saturday at the Detroit Zoo in support of The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan! With your help, we’re striding toward the day when every blood cancer patient in Michigan has the opportunity to receive personalized and ongoing support throughout their journey.

The Wild Miles Walk served as a reminder of the power of community, hope, and resilience. From donors, to event sponsors, to patients and their families and friends, we were moved by the energy and excitement of the 303 people who joined us. Your commitment to and involvement in BCFM are critical in helping us realize our 10-year vision in which no blood cancer patient in Michigan walks alone.

Collectively, our community raised more than $34,000 to support blood cancer patients and their loved ones.

Nine event sponsors — bank of ann arbor, Blossom Children's Centers, Clear Rate Communications, Dunnage Engineering, F&M Bank, Kem Krest, Meade Lexus of Southfield, Meijer, and Total Spectrum — covered event costs to ensure every dime donated goes toward support for blood cancer patients. And more than 34 volunteers — including photographers Patrick Gloria of Gloriouso Photography and Sidney Putala — gave their time, energy, warmth, and creativity to make the event possible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are grateful to every single individual, family, and business who generously supports our mission. We truly could not do this work without you.

We’re four days away from the Wild Miles Walk at the Detroit Zoo! We look forward to seeing everyone who is walking in support of The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan on Saturday, including the Kem Krest team. Their team knows that making an impact goes beyond their work, and sponsoring the Wild Miles Walk is one way they stand alongside their associates in the community and support meaningful causes.

Our friends at Superior Health Foundation recently gifted us a care access grant that allowed The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan to provide 22 patients with critical relief by covering co-pays on medication and to reimburse 50,000 miles of patient travel to receive life-saving treatment. Patients journeyed from the Upper Peninsula to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and the distances they must travel to receive treatment remind us of how heavy the burden of access to care can be.

Beyond medical support, the care access grant enabled us to care for patients' families, too. 25 children experienced joy through our Holiday Toys Program, and patients navigating difficult circumstances received 54 hours of behavioral and emotional health support.

These numbers tell a powerful story, but the real impact is measured in brighter holidays, reduced stress, and the knowledge that no one has to face their cancer journey alone.

Thank you, Superior Health Foundation, for making this possible! Your investment is changing lives in ways that truly matter.

We’re counting down the days to the Wild Miles Walk at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, May 30. As we do, we’re celebrating our generous event sponsors. Their support helps us cover event costs, so every dime you donate goes toward support for blood cancer patients.

Today, we want to thank Kem Krest for coming together to make a positive impact through the Wild Miles Walk. Our mission hits close to home for them. Every year, their team walks in memory of Steve Shoop, a former sales representative and valued member of the Kem Krest family. Honoring Steve’s legacy through this event is at the heart of why their team continues to show up and support The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan year after year. Thank you, Kem Krest!
