Taking Our Lives Back Of Michigan was founded in 2019. We are dedicated to supporting women and families impacted by cancer. One of the ways we spread love and hope is through our Chemo Care Packages - Thoughtful baskets filled with comfort items, words of encouragement, and a reminder that no one fights alone.

I am the founder of Taking Our Lives Back of Michigan.
After 21 years of being cancer free from Hodgkins Lymphoma, On February 12th, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Triple Negative a form of breast cancer.

I had a lumpectomy in April and have completed two of four chemotherapy treatments. After chemotherapy, I will undergo 16 radiation treatments.

I’m still processing it, healing my mind by staying positive, and preparing for the road ahead. I decided to share this because if my story helps even one woman, it’s worth it.

Ladies please
- Do your self-breast exams- I found the lump in my right breast.
- Do not skip your mammograms.
- Pay attention to your body.
- Eat healthy and exercise.
- If something feels off or if you see any changes in your breast, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!

I don’t know exactly what this journey will
look like, but I do know this — I’m facing it with faith, strength, courage and the support of those who love me. I am blessed with an awesome village. ❤️❤️

PLEASE SHARE this with your family and friends as a reminder for women to schedule their annual mammogram and perform regular self-breast exams. Early detection saves lives. Listening to your body can save your life.

Black women in the U.S. have the highest breast cancer mortality rate of any racial/ethnic group, being 40% more likely to die from the disease than white women, despite a slightly lower overall incidence. They face higher rates of aggressive, triple-negative breast cancer and are more likely to be diagnosed at younger ages and later stages.
