If you have ever heard me share about the how and the why of Josh’s Boots inception, then you have heard me share my aim to support the families that are left behind in su***de loss.

Immediate family survivors are 22% more likely to die by su***de because they have experienced it. The complexities of the grief can and have taken people out. We ( my mother, father, and I ) live this day in and day out. That will be a whole other story for another day.

Josh’s Boots respite program launched two weeks ago. There will be much more I will be sharing on our program in the coming weeks.

We were able to bring a mother here to Cape Cod and she was able to enjoy the ocean, dinners, mani’s and pedi’s, visiting P-Town all the way to Bourne, adventures and moments of stillness.

Sue.

Her name is basically a complete sentence.

Ten years ago her beloved son Eric made a permanent decision.
Devastated, crushed, barely crawling through life, just 10 months later she received a phone call that would yet again bring more pain.
Marine Sgt Michael Lopez had recently returned from deployment and while in Florida helping his battalion prepare for the Marine Corps Ball, he was killed in a car accident.
Sue had now lost two of her three children.
She received her son back at the tarmac in a flag draped coffin.
In the following 7 years Sue would do all she could to just stand. She would lose her mother, face breast cancer and beat it, continue working ( because she had to) and then the absolute unimaginable happened.
On April 13th 2024, Danielle Lopez was seen for the last time in New Jersey.
Danielle, is Sue’s daughter.
There is still an ongoing open investigation and tomorrow’s post will be dedicated to helping find Danielle.

It was an honor for us at Josh’s Boots to welcome to our little piece of paradise a mama who has endured really, the unthinkable.
She was loved on, cared for, and able to experience a few moments to breathe and as the picture at the table shows- even laugh.

This program and others are only possible because of your donations. Thank you.
