Troop 42’s second-to-last meeting of the year was a little different than usual, as we were missing all of our Lawrence School scouts who had a school event this evening.

The scouts broke into patrols and spent time planning activities and goals for the coming year. They also worked through final preparations for summer camp at Yawgoog, making sure everyone is ready for another great week of adventure.

Of course, no Troop 42 meeting would be complete without a little fun. The evening wrapped up with an epic game of wiffle ball, giving the scouts a chance to unwind and enjoy some friendly competition together.

A fun night and a great reminder of what makes Troop 42 special!

It was a busy Flag Day for the scouts of Troop 42!

In addition to assisting with the ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery, a number of our scouts also performed Color Guard duties at the Falmouth Elks Lodge Flag Day celebration. Great job to Bowie, Declan M., Jackson, Liam, Noah, Ronan, Rowan, and Vaughn for representing Troop 42 with pride and professionalism.

A special shout-out goes to Bowie and Jackson, who participated in both ceremonies today. Their willingness to serve throughout the day is a great example of Scout spirit and dedication.

Troop 42 Alumnus and current Massachusetts State Representative and Falmouth Town Meeting Member and Moderator, David Vieira delivered the keynote speech.

We are proud of all of our scouts who helped honor our nation’s flag on this important day.

A Scout is Reverent

Troop 42 was honored to assist with today’s Flag Day ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery, held at the gravesite of Katherine Lee Bates.

Scouts Aiden, Declan, Grayson, Jamie, and Owen, along with Mr. Jones and Mr. Chevrier, proudly served as the Color Guard for the ceremony. Bowie, Brearley, Christian, and Jackson did an outstanding job assisting with parking and traffic control, helping ensure the event ran smoothly for all attendees.

A special congratulations to Jamie, who did an excellent job leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Brianne, Girl Scout and sister of Troop 42 scout Owen, delivered a thoughtful speech on what the American flag means to her, and Paula Smith, distinguished veteran and mother of Troop 42 alumnus Harley, served as Master of Ceremonies.

It was a wonderful ceremony, and we are grateful to have been invited to help honor our flag, our nation, and those who have served it on this important day.

Troop 42 scouts Cayton, Chris, Jay, Julian, and Zach joined Mr. Jones for a trip to Bass Pro Shops today to gear up for fishing at summer camp. Rods, tackle, and plenty of excitement were on the shopping list as the crew prepared for another great week at camp.

As a bonus, the scouts found themselves in the middle of an unexpected international event, running into what seemed like half the country of Scotland, who were in town for their World Cup match later this evening! It’s not every day a scouting trip turns into a cultural exchange.

Now the scouts are stocked up, ready to hit the water, and counting down the days until camp.

Go Scotland!

Sometimes the best troop meetings are the ones where the scouts just get to be kids.

The scouts of Troop 42 took a break from advancement and skill-building this evening and enjoyed an epic game of kickball. It’s always fun to watch scouts of different ages, from different schools and backgrounds, come together, play hard, and have a great time.

What many people don’t get to see is the friendships that develop within the troop. These scouts genuinely enjoy spending time together, and nights like this are a great reminder that Scouting is about much more than badges and ranks—it’s about friendship, teamwork, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A great night all around!

It was a perfect day for Troop 42 scouts to get some color guard practice in. Great job to the T42 scouts who spent the afternoon sharpening their color guard skills and learning proper flag etiquette in preparation for Flag Day next weekend.

As an added bonus, the scouts had the opportunity to meet a vexillologist! If you’re wondering what that is, you’re not alone—I had to look it up myself. A vexillologist is someone who studies flags, and vexillology is the study of flags and their history, symbolism, and design.

It was a great afternoon of learning, teamwork, and preparing to proudly represent our troop and community.

Troop 42 Scouts and Falmouth High School juniors Chris and Jay were recognized this evening at the Falmouth High School Spring Awards Banquet.

Chris received the Clarkson University High School Achievement Award, while Jay was honored with the Physical Education Award, presented by the Trustees of the Falmouth Public Library.

It was also great to see Troop 42 legend and all-around great guy Spencer in attendance, proudly cheering on his sister as she was recognized during her senior year.

We are incredibly proud of Chris and Jay for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments both in and out of Scouting. Congratulations, gentlemen—well deserved!

Tonight’s Troop 42 meeting had a little bit of everything—and a lot of older scouts teaching younger scouts.

Our older scouts led knot-tying tutorials and shared some of the history and traditions of Scouting and Troop 42. The troop then broke into patrols to discuss upcoming activities and make plans for the weeks ahead. We also wrapped up the bulk of our merit badge selections for summer camp at Camp Yawgoog—a task that is no small feat when you’re coordinating a large group of scouts!

Congratulations are also in order for Evan, who successfully completed his Second Class Board of Review this evening. Great job, Evan—keep up the outstanding work!

It’s been a wet and windy Chuckwagon Derby, but the Scouts of Troop 42 have enjoyed themselves and weathered the storm!

The challenging weather didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, and our scouts made the most of a weekend filled with fun, service, and leadership.

A special shoutout to Bowie for stepping up and providing outstanding leadership throughout the weekend—a great sign of things to come!

Many thanks to Mr. Chevrier and Mr. Burns for their hard work organizing and leading the event, and to all the moms and dads whose support made the weekend possible.

Great job, Troop 42!
