Today, NOVA ScriptsCentral had a wonderful time with Senior Services of Alexandria, educating older adults about Diabetes Management!

From learning about managing diabetes to getting up and moving together, our participants enjoyed an interactive session filled with education, exercise, and fun! 🏃‍♀️✨

As we celebrated the conclusion of our 2024–2026 Refugee Education Series, we were incredibly grateful to have the support of Falafel Inc, who generously sponsored the meal for our final workshop and celebration. 🥙✨

After two years of education, connection, and empowerment, it meant so much to be able to gather around a meal and celebrate everything this community has accomplished together.

As we wrap up our health and wellness workshop series, we want to thank all the wonderful Afghan women who joined us! 💗

Throughout our sessions, we focused on making health education accessible and culturally relevant, from learning how to safely use gym equipment and resistance bands to understanding healthy eating, nutrition labels, and the importance of monitoring blood pressure. We also had the opportunity to check everyone’s blood pressure!

💙 October is National Bullying Prevention Month!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, our Educate Before You Medicate (EBYM) team returned to the Wellness Center for Older Adults (WCOA) for our monthly workshop! This month, we focused on bullying awareness and prevention, discussing what bullying is, the different types of bullying, how bullying can affect our health and well-being, and ways we can safely respond, support others, and promote kindness. 🫶

A huge thank you to our amazing team—Dr. Angel Edwards, Dr. Se-a Han, our volunteer Meg, and our new APPE students Carmen and Krishelle—for helping make today’s workshop a success!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are also incredibly grateful to Vaneeza and Heartful Healings for partnering with us for this special workshop. 🎨 Attendees participated in a hands-on molding clay activity where they created things that bring them happiness and joy. It was wonderful to see everyone’s creativity come to life!

💙 Celebrating the conclusion of our Refugee Education Series!

Yesterday marked the final workshop of our 2024–2026 Refugee Education Series in partnership with ECDC, and we are filled with gratitude as we reflect on this incredible journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the past two years, we have had the privilege of providing 32 workshops covering medications, reproductive health, cancer prevention, mental health, fitness, nutrition, chronic disease prevention, career development, and so much more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But this series was about more than health education. It was about empowerment, building confidence, creating a safe space for questions, and ensuring refugee families have access to trusted and culturally relevant health information. It has truly been an honor to witness the engagement, growth, and empowerment of this incredible community. 💚
