Over the weekend scouts from the troop participated in our council’s multi-district Mega Order of the Arrow Ordeal. One newly elected scout completed the ordeal, one OA member earned Brotherhood, and another OA member worked as an elangomat, leading prospective OA members through the ordeal! It looks like they had a great time!

Camp Cards are back! We asked, and the Council listened - this year's cards include a grocery store (Harris Teeter) discount! The cards are $10 each, and include discounts for Harris Teeter, Ledo Pizza, the Bethesda Scout Shop, Chuck E Cheese, Wendy's, and more. The troop receives a portion of each card sold, which will support scouts attending summer camp and participating in next year's Big Trip. Interested in purchasing camp cards? Please contact the troop's fundraising chair, Dan Ruecking, at [email protected].

On Monday the troop held its winter Court of Honor and annual spaghetti dinner. We welcomed AOL scouts who will be joining the troop next month, and we recognized scouts for their accomplishments including public service, many Music merit badges, and Life scout Alejandro completing all of his Eagle-required merit badges! The troop also presented former Scoutmaster Jamie Martin with a retired and signed troop flag. And Maria L and Maria H once again did an excellent job overseeing the food!

This weekend the troop held a Klondike Campout at Prince William Forest Park. The temperatures on the first day were very non-Klondike, and the troop enjoyed a hike, an axe yard, and meals cooked by scouts working on the Cooking and Camping merit badges and 1st Class rank requirements. Then rain came in the middle of the night, and the final morning was cold and wet - gear is still trying to dry out. Warm breakfasts from our cooks helped!
