Yesterday, we were honored to receive a beautiful handcrafted flag from John Rice as a token of appreciation for our department.
While the flag itself is absolutely incredible, what means the most to us is knowing the thought, time, and care that went into creating it. Every board was cut, sanded, stained, and assembled by hand. Every star, every stripe, and every detail represents hours of work and dedication from someone who simply wanted to say “thank you.”
John included a note sharing memories of attending his HazMat Awareness & Operations course at our department several years ago and expressing his appreciation for the hospitality and support he received during that time. To know that those interactions left a lasting impression is truly humbling.
John, thank you for this amazing gift. Thank you for the hard work, dedication, and thoughtfulness that went into every inch of it. Most of all, thank you for reminding us that the bonds formed through the fire service can last a lifetime.
We are honored by your generosity, and this flag will have a place of pride at Ebenezer Fire & Rescue for many years to come.
