Today is ! According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, nearly 90% of nurses are women. This woman-dominated field revolves around compassion, the mastering of technical skills, and stellar communication skills. Yet, nurses are still not afforded the respect that they deserve. Currently, New York nurses are on strike, picketing for safer staff to patient ratios, improved healthcare benefits, and protections against workplace violence. They have yet to reach an agreement with hospitals.

Let’s stand in solidarity with our vital healthcare professionals as they protest for protections and benefits that they deserve!

By discovering that galaxies rotate much faster than expected, Vera revealed the existence of dark matter—fundamentally changing our understanding of the cosmos. She was as much a force for change on Earth as she was in the heavens, famously stating: "There is no problem in science that can be solved by a man that cannot be solved by a woman."
