As schools close for summer break, many children lose access to the meals they rely on during the school year. While classrooms may be empty, hunger doesn't take a vacation.

At SevaTruck , our kitchen and food truck continue serving nutritious meals to children throughout the summer months, ensuring that kids can count on a warm meal when they need it most.

Another beautiful week at SevaTruck and a very special milestone for us.

This week, we wrapped up our weekly service at Howard Community College in partnership with the Rajiv & Hima Foundation for the 2025–2026 school year. Since September 2025, we’ve had the privilege of serving the students, and it has truly been such a meaningful journey.

Seeing familiar faces every week, sharing meals, conversations, and support reminds us why community matters so much.

And of course, none of this happens without our incredible volunteers Mini Aneja, Miu Lin Edson, and Pooja Baheti.

Thank you for continuously showing up with love, energy, and servant hearts.

A special thank you to Mini, one of our incredible SevaTruck volunteers, for her continuous kindness and dedication to the community we serve. Mini not only spends countless hours volunteering in the kitchen helping prep meals, but she also goes above and beyond by cooking special meals to celebrate family birthdays and anniversaries and donating in-kind goods to the families and children we serve.

This time, Mini prepared 300 beautiful stems of roses with chocolates and gave them to the students at Braddock Elementary School so they could have something special to gift their mothers for Mother’s Day. Such a thoughtful gesture that brought so much joy and love to our community.

Thank you, Mini, for always leading with compassion and generosity!

What a beautiful day to celebrate 10 years of SevaTruck Foundation.

This past Saturday, April 18, we gathered at Braddock Elementary School for a joyful anniversary celebration with more than 800 clients, volunteers, donors, supporters, and friends of SevaTruck. Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who has helped make this mission possible over the past 10 years.

The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, and community. Kids enjoyed face painting, cookie decorating, bingo, sand art, games, music, delicious quesadillas, and refreshments. The energy was amazing, and it was so special to see so many families and supporters together in one place.

A very special thank you to our event sponsors Wells Fargo, Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer, MCCP for bringing their dental van and giving out toothbrushes, SERVPRO for giving plants to all the kids, the Braddock ES family, and all the volunteers who helped make the day so special.

Our mission remains strong. We will continue serving healthy, warm vegetarian meals to children and families, while also supporting after-school homework help, tutoring, and education. Food nourishes the body, but care, encouragement, and opportunity help nourish the future.

Thank you for believing in our work and for being part of our journey. The first 10 years were powerful, and we are just getting started.

Serving the community isn’t just what we do—it’s what we live for.

Today, we had the privilege of serving meals at the Special Mario Day event at the James Lee Center. Moments like these remind us that impact is only possible because of the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Their time, energy, and compassion turn every meal into something more—a gesture of care, dignity, and connection.

Grateful to be part of a community that shows up, serves together, and uplifts one another.
