FLASHBACK: Summerfest 2012

The first charity event organized by the Gorkhaly Foundation was the 2012 XBOX FIFA Tournament, held during Summerfest. Participants were required to choose and represent a Nepali nonprofit organization with booths in the event lobby, encouraging youth to learn about the impactful grassroots work being carried out in Nepal. Since all proceeds raised by each participant went directly to their selected charity, the event aimed not only to raise funds, but also to inspire awareness, engagement, and future involvement in social causes.

The tournament final featured Bane, representing COMMITTED Nepal, against Roger Johnson, representing GMIN Nepal. Pratik emerged victorious, and Jayeev Hada accepted the award on behalf of COMMITTED as the inaugural winners.

Happy 14th anniversary to the organizers of Summerfest: Neerakar Uprety, Ritesh Shrestha, Paras Karki, and Ashish Pokharel.
