The first Rain Garden at Sportsman’s Field is complete! Congratulations to Amalia Foster on completing her Girl Scout Gold Project! It really does take a community and we are lucky to live in a town where so many are ready to pitch in! Thanks again to Ryser’s Landscape Supply for the fill supplies. For plant donations, thank you to Robbyn O’Neill and the Rutgers Master Gardener program, Bonnie Torcivia, Andy Dougherty and the students in the KW agriculture program and Gavin. And thanks to Michal DiMiceli for rolling up her sleeves and helping with the planting.

This rain garden will help filter the run off from the parking lot and the fields, keeping our Navesink River cleaner!

There are two more sites in the area for small rain gardens if anyone is looking for a community project in the fall. The FHGT is always happy to help with the planning.

What makes a great rain garden? A great foundation. And where do you find the makings of a great foundation? At ! Marty and his team have always been so supportive of FH community projects and once again they came through for student Amalia Foster and her rain garden project at Sportsman’s Field.

FH Green Team and resident volunteers will lend an assist to dig out and add the different layers of fill for the foundation. Then stay tuned on the native plants that will be going in to this much needed green infrastructure project. It will help filter stormwater runoff from the parking lot and field, and support our pollinators! 🦋🌸😊

Yesterday our friends from the hosted the fantastic Chris Brenner for assemblies on the history of Fair Haven at Sickles School. As we move towards our nation’s 250th, this was a wonderful opportunity for district kids to learn first hand about their own hometown’s history. We can’t think of a better example of sustainability than connecting kids to the place where they live.

They will be accepting toys for ages Infant -13, as well as large toys.

Not all heroes wear capes! Sometimes they wear green aprons! 💚😊 And we would like to recognize Fair Haven’s sustainability heroes Robbyn O’Neill and Bonnie Torcivia ❤️❤️ for all that they do for our town.

Along with the rest of the FHGT crew, Robbyn and Bonnie pulled off another fantastic Love Where You Live Day last weekend with their boundless energy and generous hearts. Whether it’s our green spaces, waters, schools, or our Boro’s history, they always show up, roll up their sleeves and help make Fair Haven more sustainable and more resilient for future generations, including their beloved grandchildren ❤️.

You might find them planting native plants or oak trees, but they are also always thinking of ways of bringing the FH community together - making our town more beautiful, inside and out. And for that, our gratitude is endless. Thank you Bonnie and Robbyn, for all that you do. ❤️🌎🌳🌸🌷🦋🏞️🦅😊

Please join our friends from the VGCA Food Pantry this Saturday for the Run for the Roses at Fair Haven’s Columbus Club!

Columbus Club at 200 Fair Haven Rd.

There will be food, an open bar and of course, the Kentucky Derby. 🏇

They are asking for a small donation, or bring a small bag of non perishable food.
