It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Anne Heasly, Sustainable Jersey’s Senior Program Manager for Policy & Planning.

Anne dedicated her career to building more sustainable communities across New Jersey through thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and local action. Her work in land conservation, climate resilience, safer streets, and water sustainability leaves a lasting legacy.

Anne was a beloved member of the Sustainable Jersey team. Her contributions to the organization were significant, but so was the warmth and camaraderie she brought to the workplace. She will be deeply missed, both for all she did and for who she was.

Today, Sustainable Jersey for Schools announced its 2026 Annual Award winners: three schools and two school districts recognized for sustainability leadership, innovation, cost savings, and collaboration.

Additionally, 170 New Jersey public schools earned certification this year, bringing the statewide total to 358 certified schools. 22 schools earned Digital Schools Star Recognition.
