Our second Community Partner Spotlight of June 🔦 is Tell City Wooden Boat, owned by retired carpenter and boat builder Randall Kleeman in Perry County, Indiana.

While Randall no longer builds boats, he offers carpentry workshops for young people. His 1,600 sq ft workshop accommodates up to 10 students at a time, with tools, workbenches, and equipment for learning foundational woodworking skills using primarily traditional hand tools.

🪵Opportunities for include woodworking workshops to build your own paddle, wooden drum, garden tote, toolbox, birdhouse, step stool, and more! Classes would typically last several hours, some requiring two or more sessions. These workshops are best suited for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, and align especially well with the Cadette Woodworker Badge.

Planning a canoe adventure? Consider a paddle-making workshop with Randall before your next Paddle Perry trip, and keep an eye out for a fall woodworking class to be scheduled in conjunction with GSSI’s Outdoor Fun Series!

For , we want to recognize Troop 192, who recently earned their Cadette First Aid Badge, ❤️‍🩹 and then took their training one step further to ensure that they'll always !

After earning their badge, these wanted to continue learning how to save lives, so they reached out to Daniel at First On Scene CPR LLC. Daniel created a supportive environment for the girls, and with his instruction, the troop was able to complete a CPR/First Aid Course, both girls and volunteers, together!

"The girls were attentive and excited to learn. I'm proud of them and their initiative to feel empowered to help anyone in need." —Troop 192 Leader, Steph Starkey

We love it when girls take action to grow their skills and, in doing so, become better community leaders who are ready to help others during an emergency. 💚 Great job, Troop 192, and thank you to Daniel at First On Scene CPR for supporting Girl Scouts!

In April, these courageous Girl Scouts attended the Self-Defense Workshop with Elliott Kyusho-Jitsu to learn how to protect themselves with martial arts! 🥋💪

Led by Master Eric Elliott (6th Dan), this workshop taught girls some basic moves and personal safety skills, and gave them time to practice what they learned (both on a punching bag and on the Master himself 🤜💥), all while helping build in a safe and supportive environment!

💚 Thank you to Master Eric Elliott of Elliott Kyusho-Jitsu for teaching our girls the importance of personal safety and some moves to defend themselves!

This past spring, Troop 350 delivered to Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch as a thank you to the telecommunicators there. 🍪 Dispatchers showed the around the office, talked about being safe and when to call 911, as well as played the girls some (appropriate) 911 call recordings to educate them more.

While the Girl Scouts didn't capture any photos of the cookie delivery because the telecommunicators were hard at work taking calls, Troop 350 later received these photos from Central Dispatch. 💚 Seems like the cookies were able to spread some cheer at the center! Thank you to the dispatchers and all the who serve communities in southwest .
