Is it time for forensic audit. Motor Fuel Tax is just one fund of 41 and for years the State of Illinois told staff to tighten internal controls and follow the process. at $20,000,000 discrepancy between what the states says should be in the fund and the city has in its fund is a red flag.

The board is also currently preparing to cut $20 million from the district budget and vote on closing at least two more schools in the coming months. An official plan to address the district’s ongoing budget deficit will be presented by administrators on Oct. 13.
