What’s on the Ballot?

Three constitutional amendments will appear on Florida’s November ballot, and understanding what they could mean can be complicated. Data Centers are noisy!
Data centers disturb the tree canopy and hydrology of an area.
As do air training facilities.
Let's keep both of these things out of Lake county.

People living near data centers are reporting notable changes to wildlife, Erin Brockovich reports.

In a recent interview on the Shawn Ryan Show, environmental advocate Erin Brockovich raised concerns about the ecological impacts of rapid AI data center expansion. Brockovich shared reports from local communities describing dramatic disruptions to local wildlife near these massive facilities.

Residents have noticed fewer animals overall, disappearing bird populations, and altered migratory pathways in areas that once bustled with wildlife. Although these community observations are currently anecdotal, they highlight the immediate real-world consequences of transforming natural environments into high-tech hubs.

The development of hyperscale data centers requires massive land clearing, tree removal, and altered water systems, all while creating 24/7 noise and high-frequency vibrations. These constant disturbances naturally displace surrounding species. While AI holds tremendous potential to revolutionize and streamline our social systems, Brockovich argues that rushing the integration of this technology creates deeply undesirable externalities. A sustainable future requires integrating this technology mindfully, rather than treating it as a reckless race that compromises local ecosystems and community well-being.
