Bluestone AOH

Bluestone AOH An Irish Catholic Fraternal organization focused on community service and helping those most in need in our immediate surroundings and beyond.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is America’s oldest Irish Catholic Fraternal Organization founded concurrently in the coal-mining region of Pennsylvania and New York City in May,1836. The Order can trace its roots back to a series of similar societies that existed in Ireland for more than 300 years before the founding of the AOH in America. Today, the AOH exists in America, Canada, Ireland, Englan

d, Wales and Scotland. Hibernian organizations in all these locales share a common thread, however, the American AOH is a separate and considerably larger organization.

It was a melancholy St. Patrick's Day for the Bluestone Hibernians as we mourned the loss of Member 0001. Francis McGarry passed on Friday, March 14th and took with him a lot of heart, soul and passion from our order. It was his vision that brought this AOH Division to life and his direction that built it into what it is today. To say he will be missed is to trivialize the word itself. Slán abhaile, Francis. Until we meet again.

Brothers,

With sadness I must report I learned moments ago of the passing of Roger Weist. Brother Weist was a member of and major contributor to the National FFAI committee, most recently hosting Carmel Quinn of the Ballymurphy families. Please keep Roger his family in your prayers. Details will be online once they become available.

Rest in Peace Brother Weist,

James F. McKay
National President
