Jack Lummus Memorial VFW Post 7106 Ennis Texas

Jack Lummus Memorial VFW Post 7106 Ennis Texas The purposes of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars are fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable.
(1)

The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together an

d formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. By 1915, membership grew to 5,000; by 1936, membership was almost 200,000.

VFW Post 7106 extend our sincere appreciation to the Greater Dallas Bicyclist Club for their generous $750 donation to our Post.

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, our Post was proud to donate the use of our parking lot as a rally point and rest area for the annual Ennis Bluebonnet Bicycle Run. This event brings riders from across the region, and we were honored to support it once again.

A special thank‑you goes out to the VFW Auxiliary and VFW members who volunteered their time to hand out bottled water and assist riders throughout the morning. Your dedication reflects the spirit of service that defines our Post.

We are grateful for the continued partnership with the Greater Dallas Bicyclist Club and for their support of our mission to serve veterans, their families, and our community.
