Friendship is one of life’s necessities, but for many children with disabilities--true friendship is just a dream. The Friendship Circle is a non-profit organization that fosters friendships between children, teens, and young adults with disabilities and their typically developing peers; providing social, recreational, and educational experiences. The Friendship Circle believes every individual, regardless of ability, is a productive member of the community.

The stories behind One Soul at a Time 💛

A birthday means cake, candles, and people gathered around to celebrate. But for him, it was also a chance to be surrounded by people who showed up simply because he matters.

The stories behind One Soul at a Time💛

As promised, we’re sharing some of the moments that show what belonging really looks like at Friendship Circle.

For years, one sister felt she had to look out for her younger brother, always ready to step in when the world didn’t understand him.

Then, during their first Friday night with us, our team told her, “He’s exactly where he’s supposed to be—let him be him.”

For once, she didn’t have to manage every moment or worry about how others might see him. Her family could simply be together and feel welcome.

Sometimes, belonging means knowing you don’t have to hold everything together. You can finally let go.

This is one of the stories behind One Soul at a Time, our Annual Campaign happening November 8–9.

We’ll be sharing more stories in the coming weeks. Each one is a reminder of why we do what we do, and why every soul deserves a place to belong.
