🌿 June Activity Series: Outdoor Fun at Home β€” Free & Low Cost!

Next up in our series: Make a Fairy Garden! 🧚

Fairy gardens spark pure imagination and keep kids outside and creating for hours β€” and they can be made with almost anything you find in your yard or around the house!

Here's what you'll need:
A container, pot, or small patch of ground
Soil, moss, small plants, or yard clippings
Natural treasures β€” sticks, pebbles, pine cones, acorns, shells
Small recycled items for furniture (bottle caps, corks, fabric scraps)
A little imagination

Head outside and explore your yard for materials, then let your child lead the design! Use pebbles for a winding path, sticks for a tiny fence, moss for a soft lawn, and leaves or bark for a cozy roof. Once it's built, kids love returning every day to tend to it, add to it, and let their imaginations run wild.

πŸ‘‡ We want to see your fairy gardens! Drop your photos in the comments below!

Stay tuned for more fun outdoor activities all month long!

🌿 June Activity Series: Outdoor Fun at Home β€” Free & Low Cost!

Next up in our series: Nature Journaling!

Nature journaling is one of the most beautiful habits you can introduce to a child β€” and the best part is, there are no rules! All you need is a notebook, something to draw or write with, and the great outdoors. 🌱

Here's what you'll need:
A notebook or blank journal (even stapled printer paper works!)
Pencils, crayons, or markers
Your backyard, a park, or any outdoor space
Curious eyes and a sense of wonder πŸ”

Here's how to get started:
🌿 Head outside and find a spot to sit quietly for a few minutes. Encourage your child to slow down and really look around β€” what do they see, hear, smell, and feel?
✏️ Sketch, write, or doodle anything that catches their attention β€” a bug on a leaf, the shape of a cloud, a flower they've never noticed before. There is no wrong way to do this!
πŸ” Encourage them to look closer β€” flip over a rock, peer under a leaf, watch an ant for a full minute. The more they slow down, the more they'll discover.
πŸ““ Date each entry and watch the journal grow over time into a beautiful record of the natural world right outside their door.

Nature journaling builds observation skills, creativity, and a deep connection to the outdoors β€” and it's something the whole family can enjoy together at any age.

Stay tuned for more fun outdoor activities all month long! πŸͺ²
