Africa to Africa

Africa to Africa Africans transforming Africa Founders, Noe and Amanda Detore have been involved in Africa since 2003.

They have traveled and lived in several different African countries throughout this time, gaining extensive cultural and relational experience. From early on, both Noe and Amanda realized Africans mostly everything needed to transform their communities, minus financial resources. It was this realization that led them to do something and give them a passion to empower Africans. In 2011, the Detore’

s started Africa to Africa and have been involved ever since. Noe and Amanda have six children, all of whom are from Africa. Africa to Africa is based out of Maryland and is currently working in Tanzania and Rwanda.

A question we get often is what inspired Africa to Africa.

About a year into working in Tanzania with another nonprofit, that organization shifted direction, and we found ourselves drawn to an approach that started from within, rather than one brought in from the outside.

That’s when we began to see it clearly. Real vision, real potential, already living inside the people and communities around us.

And that’s what became Africa to Africa. A commitment to walking alongside the people already leading the way, because we believe the most powerful change always starts from within. 🌍

Meet Lina - leader, mother, and this week's Voice of Vision.

Lina lost her husband, Daniel, a dear friend and local leader at the heart of Africa to Africa for many years, when he fell from a neighbor's roof he was helping fix. That's the kind of person he was, always helping.

Lina is now carrying on his legacy. She leads the church her husband once led, with the congregation still gathered behind her. She is raising six children on her own. Her eldest son works the land to help keep the family going, and her five younger children are all still in school, full of promise.

When our national director Habib visited recently, he came back with one clear observation: Lina is not just surviving. She is leading. There is much still to learn and carry, but she is holding it all together with grace.

Sometimes a Voice of Vision isn't about a big community project. Sometimes it's a mother who gets up every morning, tends to her children, shepherds her community, and makes sure the love Daniel poured into his family and village keeps growing.

That's Lina, a heart we are grateful to know.

A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Mariam and her village of Mikangaula. We'd love to give an update on the well fund.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has given so far. Your generosity is moving us closer to making this a reality, and we are deeply grateful.

Thanks to donors like you, we've raised $2,800 of the $9,000 needed to bring a clean water well to Mikangaula. That progress matters. And yet, the need remains urgent.

The people of Mikangaula still travel more than two miles each day for water. A single well changes that, providing clean water for drinking, cooking, farming, and giving back hours currently spent on that long walk.

We still have meaningful ground to cover, and we believe we can get there with your help. Whether you can give or simply share this post with a friend, every action brings Mikangaula one step closer to water.

Thank you for being part of this.

You saw Machedo in our stories earlier this week. Now we want to give him his moment. 🌱

He looked at an empty plot of land and saw a solution to something his community needed. With one microloan and a lot of determination, he and Habib turned that space into something real. A goat project that his community benefits from every day.

He’s this week’s Voice of Vision, and it’s easy to see why.

Machedo had the vision, the drive, and the plan. ATA had his back.

Swipe through and be part of what comes next. 💚

Everything Africa to Africa does starts with one belief. Africa’s communities already hold the solutions. They always have. 🌍

A community shares its vision. ATA helps make it real.

But behind every project, every loan, every new beginning, is something deeper. It’s family.

The founders behind ATA don’t just run the mission, they live it. Visiting villages, witnessing ideas take root, and bringing their family along to see what African communities are building every day.

And none of it would be possible without the people who believe in this mission just as deeply. Every supporter, every donor, every share keeps the work alive. 💚

And that’s a mission worth showing up for.

Yesterday, we introduced you to Mariam. Today, we want to tell you why she is this week’s Voice of Vision.

Mariam is a local leader in the village of Mikangaula, and right now, her village walks more than two miles to reach water. But here's what inspires us: she didn't sit with that problem. She sought to solve it.

As our first female-sponsored local leader, Mariam brought her community's need to ATA, and together we want to make it a reality.

This is who your support reaches. Not just communities, but the hearts leading them.

05/14/2026

By now, you’ve seen what your support can do for real communities across Africa. We’d like to tell you again about the Mikangaula Well Fund.

The people of Mikangaula are ready to transform their community. They have a vision. What they need now is a well.

Right now, villagers walk over two miles just to reach water. A single well changes everything. Every dollar contributed moves this well from a dream to a reality. For the families of Mikangaula, that means clean water for drinking, cooking, and farming. It means more time for work, for rest, and for life.

So far, we have raised $2,500 toward the $9,000 needed to make this happen. Every dollar brings Mikangaula one step closer to water on their doorstep.

This is a community that has already done the hard work of believing change is possible. Help us make sure they don't have to wait much longer.

Give what you can, share if you're able. Every bit of support helps to make this project a reality as soon as possible.
Thank you. 💚

Today we introduce someone truly special to kick off our Voices of Vision series. 🌱

Meet Habib, a dear friend who we have known for over 17 years.

Habib is Maasai, raised in a rural Maasai village in Tanzania's Kilimanjaro region. That upbringing shaped everything about how he leads today. His heart is for the rural villages, the places others pass over because of rough roads and difficult conditions. He sees beyond the barriers, driven by a vision of a better life for everyone who calls them home.

Today, Habib serves as ATA's National Director in Tanzania, where he oversees water well projects, microfinance loans, and community development initiatives across the region. Through ATA, he has helped bring clean water, economic opportunity, and hope to communities that need it most.

This is what local leadership looks like.
