We had a wonderful casual meeting with the Howard County Police Department and are grateful for the strong relationship we have built through their Community Liaison Program. Partnerships like these are essential to strengthening our community, fostering trust, and creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration and service.

We are incredibly thankful for this partnership and look forward to connecting with HCPD on future projects and initiatives that continue to bring our community together.

Representing the leadership of Howard County Muslim Council were President Nooreen Zaidi, Vice President Zunaira Awan, and Board of Director Zeehamat Samuel.

Amin was the security guard at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Police say his actions kept Monday's attack from being far worse. Remember his legacy with us!

The Howard County Muslim Council strongly condemns this horrible act of violence at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Our prayers are with everyone impacted by this senseless act. No one should ever fear for their safety while attending prayers or going to school.

Please join us today at Howard County Muslim Council's Candidate Forum on Sunday, May 17th, 2026 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

The event will be held at the following location:

Columbia, MD 21045

Candidates We Will Be Prioritizing

Based on feedback from the Muslim community and due to us having only 2 hours to host our program, the following races and their candidates will be featured:

MD Congressional District 3 Candidates (3 minutes per candidate)
Howard County Executive Candidates (4 minutes per candidate)
County Council Districts 1-5 Candidates (2 minutes per candidate)
MD House of Delegates 9B (2 minutes per candidate)

A Note to Candidates in Other Howard County Races

While we indicated the races we will be prioritizing hearing candidates from (referenced above), we will do our best to accommodate candidates in other races, should we still have time left over. We cannot guarantee this but will do our best to accommodate additional candidates for other races.

With inflation continuing to rise and grocery prices hitting families harder than ever, access to fresh food has become a real struggle for many. We are committed to showing up, giving back, and helping provide nutritious food to those who need it most.
