Summers are busy!!! But we love providing opportunities for young people!

Hey, parents!!! If you’re looking for a fun and educational time for your student this summer - here’s a perfect opportunity! Our FACS Agent and Farm Bureau are offering “Canning for Kids” next month. Students must be 6th grade & up to participate. Spots are LIMITED - so don’t delay registering! Students who are active/enrolled 4-H’ers will earn Clover Points for participating!

Looking for a fun summer activity that's both hands-on and educational?

Join us for Canning With Kids on July 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to noon!

Participants will learn the basics of safe home food preservation while making and taking home their own canned products. This class is designed for youth going into 6th grade and older and is a great opportunity to build kitchen skills, learn food preservation techniques, and have fun along the way.

Cost: $25 per participant
Includes: A recipe book to take home

Registration is limited, so don't wait!

Last week was “Tybee Time,” and this week we completely switch gears to “mountain time.” Elbert County 4-H’ers have the opportunity to test their own strength and resiliency at Wilderness Challenge Camp!

🍀 Georgia 4-H is preparing over 200,000 young people each year for careers in agriculture, science, leadership and more!

According to the 2025 National 4-H Index Study:

▪️ 91% of respondents reported 4-H giving them the opportunity to explore future careers.
▪️ 88% credited 4-H with helping them develop good character.
▪️ 84% credited 4-H with helping them develop responsibility.

And just like that, a week on “Tybee Time” has come to a close! Hopefully, memories were made that last a lifetime AND our Elbert County 4-H’ers are coming home WINNERS!!! The Blue Crew won “Team of the Week Award!” 💙🥳🏆

From Horse Shows to Beaches, Elbert County 4-H is on the GO this summer! ☀️🌊 These four young people have arrived at Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island for Marine Exploration Camp. We hope they have an amazing week living on island time and learning about Georgia’s coastal diversity. 🐬🦀🦐🦈🏝️

The final division to compete at the Georgia 4-H State Horse Show was the Contest Division, better known as running or speed classes. Elbert County 4-H had five students compete in this division.

Isabella and Choo-Choo competed in:

Senior Cone Weaving
Senior Pole Bending, 7th Place
Senior Cloverleaf Barrels, 10th Place
Senior Arena Race

Aiken & Astro competed in:
Junior Stake Race, 5th Place
Junior Cone Weaving
Junior Pole Bending
Junior Cloverleaf Barrels
Junior Arena Race

Madison and E competed in:
Senior Stake Race, 3rd Place
Senior Cone Weaving, Top Ten
Senior Pole Bending, 2nd Place
Senior Cloverleaf Barrels
Senior Arena Race
Madison and E finished 4th Overall in the Senior Contest Division.

Kennedy and StarLord competed in:
Senior Stake Race, 11th Place
Senior Cone Weaving
Senior Pole Bending
Senior Cloverleaf Barrels
Senior Arena Race

Bailee and Hugo competed in:
Senior Stake Race, 4th Place
Senior Cone Weaving, Top Ten
Senior Pole Bending, 7th Place
Senior Cloverleaf Barrels
Senior Arena Race
Bailee and Hugo ended up 8th Overall in the Senior Contest Division.

Congratulations to Madison and Bailee for also qualifying to compete at Southern Regionals!
