On 6/16/26 at 2:11 pm Members of the Egg Harbor Township Volunteer Fire Department from both the Cardiff and Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Companies were dispatched to 427 Sycamore Ave for a reported structure fire. Numerous 911 callers reported the sight of heavy black smoke and fire in this area. Bargaintown Assistant Chief Will Hancock arrived, assumed command and reported an RV fully involved in fire with fire spreading to numerous storage sheds located nearby. Additionally the woods were also burning and the woods fire was spreading towards Glenn Ave. Due to the remote location of the fire on the property and a limited water supply Hancock requested a tanker from the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company and the NJ State Forest Fire Service. There were no injuries, the fire was investigated by the EHT Fire Investigations Bureau. Firefighters on the scene were supported by the EHT Police Department and the EHT Rescue Squad. Additionally, firefighters received the assistance from a younger fire- service fan who arrived with his own truck and gear. EHT firefighters gave him a tour of their own apparatus, Bargaintown Assistant Chief Will Hancock was the Incident Commander.
