Guest Speaker: Leif Hagen - The Art of Rotary
5950 Rotary District Governor

Leif Hagen grew up in Stevens Point and graduated from St. Olaf College in 1988 with a BA in German and French. His early career included teaching languages in Zug, Switzerland, and high school English in Gero, Japan. In 1992, he entered the financial services field as a financial planner with Lutheran Brotherhood, later joining LPL Financial in 2002. He now owns Achievement Financial in Eagan, Minnesota, offering financial planning and Medicare supplemental insurance services.

Leif has held multiple leadership roles within Rotary, including two terms as President of the Eagan Rotary Club and serving as the two-year charter president of the MN Pride Rotary Club. His Rotary involvement includes leading a GSE team to Bangalore, India, hosting GSE visitors from Finland and Brazil, serving as District Conference co-chair, Assistant Governor for Area 2, and on the District Foundation grant committee. He is a Paul Harris Society member, a Major Donor, and has attended Rotary International conventions in Birmingham, New Orleans, Bangkok, Hamburg, Calgary, and Taipei.

Leif lives in Eagan with his partner, Valdir Oliveira, and has three daughters — Kajsa, Svea, and Britta. He enjoys foreign languages, international travel, collecting art and attending art shows.

His District Governor's theme is “The Art of Rotary.”

Business is Picking Up - Suburban Waste Services-MN

Susie Scott is Office Manager at Suburban Waste Services and will present to us on the business services and operations of SWS.

Susie manages the WOW customer support team at SWS. Their values include Integrity: "Doing the right thing when no one is looking" and Teamwork: They work together for the common goal of each other and those we serve. SWS works under a Servant Leadership philosophy which drives our company culture. It consists of respect, encouragement, accountability, teamwork and colleagues that truly care for each other.

The company provides waste services for communities in the southwest suburban area with a focus on minimizing the impact of waste on the environment. SWS has an emphasis on no sort recycling, converting waste to electrical power and methane recovery to covert to biofuel.

Serving Our Community at Cornerstone

Members of the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary Club recently had the opportunity to serve at Cornerstone Shelter in Bloomington. It was a meaningful way to lend a hand, connect with our community, and support an organization doing important work for individuals and families in need.

Service Project - Saturday, August 29

Roll up your sleeves and make a difference! Join us for a hands-on service project at Cornerstone's Transitional Housing Units in Bloomington — a Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding lives and restoring hope for those they serve.

We'll spend the day sprucing up the property, tackling yard and grounds cleanup (weather permitting) or indoor maintenance projects. Every bit of work helps create a welcoming, comfortable space for the families who call it home.

What to bring: gloves and any handy cleanup tools you have—rakes, brooms, a w**d whacker, etc. Come ready to work alongside great people for a great cause!

Come Lend a Hand—and Help Furnish a Home! 🏠

SERVICE PROJECT: Wednesday, August 19, 4 - 6pm

The The PROP Shop of Eden Prairie is seeing high demand for furniture, especially dressers, and we're proving some volunteers, and volunteers from the community are welcome to join us!
Join us for a local service project as we sort, move, organize, and get furniture ready to go to families in our community. It’s a great way to spend a few hours making a very tangible difference—and have some fun with fellow Rotarians while you’re at it!
