❤️ HEART OF OUR HOMETOWN — AUBREY HORNSBY ❤️

This month’s Heart of Our Hometown takes us right to the heart of downtown Eclectic as we spotlight Aubrey Hornsby — a fourth-generation “Eclectician” whose family roots run deep in our community.

Aubrey owns and cares for several properties in downtown Eclectic, including the Eclectic Warehouse, a place that has hosted countless gatherings and celebrations.

We asked Aubrey what makes him proud to call Eclectic home:

🏡 What makes you proud to call Eclectic home?
“I am a fourth-generation Eclectician. I love our culture, which is based on evangelical Christianity and family good times.”

🇺🇸 What is one thing you wish the world knew about our small town?
“I believe Eclectic is the perfect small American town with the values that make America great. It seems to me that as America loses its way in the world, it will find its way by revisiting and participating in small-town life in towns like Eclectic. I want Eclectic to symbolize that for America.”

🌳 How long have you lived in Eclectic, and what first brought you here?
Aubrey’s connection to Eclectic began from birth.

“I spent the first six months of my life at the corner of Central Avenue and Hornsby Lane in the house of my great-grandfather. I still work my great-grandfather’s land and buildings every day of my life.”

✝️ What is one local tradition, event, or place that means a lot to you?
For Aubrey, it’s the crossroads at the very center of town — Main Street and College Road.

“The crossroads at the center of Eclectic, Main Street and Kowaliga Road, are the center of town, and I believe that symbolically it represents the Christian cross, which should be at the center of our lives. I was so pleased when Auburn’s architecture school and its Urban Institute made an architectural plan for the town focused on this crossroads.”

❤️ How would you describe the people of Eclectic in one sentence?
“Evangelical Christians with family values that include the entire community.”

Four generations. Family land. Downtown buildings filled with new memories. And a connection to Eclectic that began almost literally at the crossroads of town.

❤️ Heart of Our Hometown ❤️

The Eclectic Network is proud to continue our Heart of Our Hometown series by recognizing Stephanie Stepney.

Stephanie has called Eclectic home for the past 12 years, but her journey here is one that’s straight out of a love story. After reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Jason, nearly 20 years later through Facebook, she made the move to Eclectic, where they’ve built a life together.

Over the years, Stephanie has invested not only in her family but also in the Town of Eclectic. She served several years as a Town Council member and has generously volunteered her time with the Eclectic Network, helping support downtown revitalization efforts and community events. Her willingness to give back has helped strengthen the town she proudly calls home.

When asked what makes her proud to call Eclectic home, Stephanie didn’t mention a building or a landmark—she talked about the people. She loves the small-town kindness that makes neighbors wave as they drive by and go out of their way to make others feel welcome. What surprised her when she first moved here has become one of the things she treasures most about our town.

One of Stephanie’s favorite traditions is the Eclectic Cotton Festival. Each year, she and Jason look forward to seeing familiar faces while hosting their popular “Spin the Wheel” booth, where they give away prizes they’ve collected throughout the year for local children. For Stephanie, it’s a day that truly reflects the generosity and community spirit that make Eclectic special.

If she could describe the people of Eclectic in just one word, her answer was simple:

“Eclectic.”

Looking to the future, Stephanie hopes Eclectic will preserve its small-town charm while becoming a destination for visitors. She also believes the Eclectic Library and Museum are two places everyone should experience when they visit.

Thank you, Stephanie, for your years of service, your volunteer spirit, and for helping make Eclectic the welcoming community so many of us are proud to call home.

💙 Heart of Our Hometown – May Spotlight 💙

The Eclectic Network is proud to recognize Maggie DiGiovanni as our May “Heart of Our Hometown” honoree.

When asked what makes her proud to call Eclectic home, Maggie shared:
“The friendly people, whether friends or professional, they make everyone feel welcome.”

She also shared that she wishes the world knew:
“Our people will help in every way possible and to make life good for all.”

Maggie was born here, later moved away, and eventually returned to Eclectic when her brother became ill. She says, “Glad I came back.”

Maggie continues to give back to this community in countless ways. She volunteers many hours at the Eclectic Public Library, helping with book sales, museum tours, and sharing information about the library with visitors and residents alike. She is also very active in the Eclectic Senior Center and recently dedicated significant time and effort toward preparing the grant for the new Senior Center bus that was recently approved.

Her servant heart, dedication, and love for this community truly help make Eclectic a better place.

Thank you, Maggie, for being part of the heart of our hometown. 💙

Downtown Eclectic just got a little sassier. 💇‍♀️✨

The doors at Cowlicks Salon are officially serving attitude, color, and main-character energy. Between “What Would Dolly Do?” and “Blame it all on my roots,” we’re pretty sure these may be the most photographed doors in town now. 😄

Huge shoutout for adding another fun, creative touch to downtown that makes people slow down, smile, and look around.

And honestly… Dolly would approve. 💕🎨

What a wonderful morning in downtown Eclectic! ✂️💙

Today, the Eclectic Network was honored to celebrate the grand opening ribbon cutting for Vintage Antiques Eclectic with the owners, vendors, community members, Mayor Guy Sanders and members of the Town Council.

Despite the rainy weather, the shop was full of people browsing, visiting, and supporting another locally owned downtown business. From antiques and vintage finds to home décor and unique treasures, Vintage Antiques has already brought new energy and excitement to downtown Eclectic!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special day and continue investing in our community.

Every shop has a story — and today was the beginning of another great one in downtown Eclectic.wn
