Getting fired up for Metal Masters tonight!

It's a beautiful day to manipulate some metal into something functional and cool. It happens tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Tomorrow night is our Front Porch Pickin night. We are going to celebrate the arrival of June with a little music.

Come out and join us for the fun and maybe learn or teach a new thing.

As we celebrate Memorial Day and the sacrifice of our fallen brothers and sisters, I am personally reflecting on lost friends. I served 30 years in the USAF and many of those in the Special Operations and Combat Search and Rescue. Military aircraft use call signs to designate specific aircraft on missions, usually the call signs are directly tied to specific units or communities.

To commemorate Memorial Day, I will simply list a few call signs of missions that have affected me personally, but this is a small sample of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, & Marines that this solemn day represents.

We had a great day last Sunday. It was Mother's Day, so the crowd was a bit smaller, but it's quality and not quantity that matters.

We put all the fairings back on a BMW 1150RT we have been tinkering with. Test ride was good and we have just a couple minor details to finish up.

We had one of our neighbors stop by and present us with this beautiful wreath for our front door. We can't thank her enough!

Also tore the heads off one of our veteran's minivan. He had a blown head gasket and we need to get him back on the road. Taking care of business!

We had a great Front Porch Pickin last night. Pat Ramirez taught one of Rob a few notes on the bass guitar. Apparently he can't actually teach rhythm, but we are working through that little issue. Paul and Dave were having too much fun to worry about it.

Our plan is to continue doing this the first Friday of the month and see where we go from here. It is really great to have music back in our lives.

VETS is bringing back our music program Front Porch Pickin.

Tomorrow night, May 1st, will be our return to the program which we plan to do on a monthly basis for now. We plan to do this the first Friday of every month now.

This is one more way we can reach out to veterans and provide a much needed service!

Big changes are finally coming to the front of our building. The siding got torn off in a 2022 tornado. We thought it would be a quick fix at the time, but did some planning and determined we needed to make a couple of changes before we did the siding.

Phase 1: Replace the garage door that blocked a window and wall inside the building. Dixie Overhead Door helped us with that a couple of weeks ago. Phase 1 Complete!

Phase 2: Replace the window with a walk-in door, so we can actually have a front entrance to our building. Tim Thornton made this happen this week and a couple of our veterans painted the door to match. Phase 2 Complete!

Phase 3: Remove OSB plywood that has been water soaked for a few years and re-face the building. Phase 3 has begun and it may take us a little while, but we are super excited about how it will look shortly.

Changes to a building happen in similar ways to changes in our lives. We live with issues sometimes that are fixable, but we just get used to seeing them the way they are. One day you take that first step and realize that we no longer have to live with those issues.

VETS is busy today. We are running two different events, one in Tallassee at the Red, White, and Blue event.

The second is at VFW Post 1349 in Prattville. We are doing a motorcycle swap meet and VETS is set us with our metal working station and an English Wheel. We are celebrating our Metal Masters night by tinkering with a front fender out here today.

The rain is holding off, so come out and support the VFW and learn more about VETS.

VETS is out at 2 different events on this beautiful Saturday morning. Stephanie & Summer are out at the Tallassee Red, White, and Blue Festival from 8AM to 2PM and Rob is out at the VFW 1349 in Prattville for their swap meet. Come out and see us and support!
